DOE RUN, MO--(July 14, 2006) Vince Conway did something few racers accomplish in their racing careers this past Friday night at the Raceway...starting on the back of a feature event and winning the race.

Conway, who races Dwarf Cars, developed mechanical problems during his hot lap session and missed his heat race which forced him to start on the back of the pack for the feature event. This fact didn't deter Conway though as passed car after car on his way to the front. Chris Hayes led 14 and 3/4 laps of the 15 lap event and looked to be a shoo-in until being passed by Conway inches from the finish line as the checkered flag waved. Matt Dotson finished third, Billy Joe Beard fourth and Brad Paquet fifth.

Hayes won the first heat, Beard second and Dotson third. Jim Daley won the second heat, Wayne Arnold second and Jason Gann third.

Andy Malpocker won the 20 lap 600cc Multi feature event. Eric Edwards finished second, Joey Boyd third, Thomas Chandler fourth and Jeff Wurst fifth.

Casey Barnhouse won the first Multi heat, Malpocker second and Jake Bess third. Chandler won the second Multi heat, Boyd second and Edwards third.

In the Mini Stock class, Shannon Burch and Bill Nickelson put on quite a show for the crowd during the feature event. Starting side by side on the front row after winning their respective heat races, Nickelson jumped out in front at the green and looked to be on his way to his first feature win. Burch however, had other things in mind and while working lap traffic, passed Nickelson halfway through the race. Nickelson had to settle for second, Ronnie Moser third, CJ Wright fourth and Megan Bell fifth.

Moser finished second to Nickelson in the first heat with CJ Wright rounding out the top three. Bell finished second to Burch in the first heat, Ray Statler third.

Scottie Gretzmacher won a hard fought battle over Andrew Cash in the Stock Kart main event. Garrett Burns finished third, Lee Stuppy fourth and Maggie Almon fifth.

Cash won the first heat, Amber Bayless second and Stuppy third. Gretzmacher won the second heat, Jesse Wright second and Burns third.

In the hornet class, Matt Greif once again went two for two, winning both the heat race and the main event. Adam Thomas finished second behind Greif in the main event, Shane Capps third. Capps picked up a second place finishe in the heat race, Thomas third.

Racing will resume Friday, July 21st with a special appearance by the Vintage Cars. Other classes participating will be the 600cc Multi, Mini Stock, Dwarf, Stock Karts and Hornets. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice begins at 7:30 p.m., racing begins at 8:00 p.m. For more information, including complete results and current point standings, visit the track's website at www.doerunraceway.com or phone (573) 756-8889.
