BOYD, Texas (April 22) – A fifth place finish in his latest tour outing helped Charles Cosper take over the top spot in Texas Lone Star Series standings for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
Allen Montgomery made the April 17 trip to Boyd Raceway with the point lead on his side, but was an early accident casualty and is now two points off the pace.
Keith White saw his lead in the Modified portion of the series grow to a dozen points over Gabe Tucker. Jeff Turner pared White’s advantage in the Stock Car series to a slim one point.
The race is almost as close in the Southern SportMods, where Bradley Poor now leads Tom Earl Jr. by three points.
White and Duain Pritchett are three-time winners in the Modified and Stock Car series, respec¬tively. Montgomery owns a pair of Hobby Stock checkers while Brad Shirley has won two straight Southern SportMod features.
The eighth of nine tour dates is Sunday, May 29 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 5 p.m., hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. and racing is at 7 p.m.
HO’T also holds its second annual Wall of Fame induction ceremony at 3 p.m. that day.
