OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 24) – The “Dart Iron Man Challenge” will make its debut on Wednesday, May 26, at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The next night (Thursday, May 27), the newly-formed series for the full-fendered USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars invades the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa.
In all, 14 dates at 12 premier speedways throughout Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri dot the calendar for the 2010 campaign
The ultra-competitive and exciting USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars will be teaming up with the undisputed heavyweight champion of Modified racing this season to create the ultimate feast for the action-hungry dirt racing fan as the Dart Iron Man Challenge will accompany the popular USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour at each of the 14 events.
“We have had a lot of calls from drivers who want to come and race the series,” said USRA President Todd Staley. “The payout is awesome, the points fund is awesome, the schedule is awesome and our Stock Car rules should allow all Stock Car drivers in the region the opportunity to come in and compete in the Dart Iron Man Challenge.”
Made possible by support from Dart Machinery and Allstar Performance, all races will pay $600 to win and $125 to start the main event with 21 or more entries in the field.
The ten-race points fund will carry a $1,000 top prize with the tenth-place finisher earning $100.
Dart will award a $75 certificate to the winner of each event and a $50 certificate to the ninth-place finisher, and each event will have a qualifying format similar to the USMTS, with heat race passing points determining the “B” Main and “A” Main line-ups.
In addition, each race will award national points in the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car division of the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series where the national champion will earn $700.
On Wednesday, pit gates open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and racing starts at 7:30. Along with the USMTS Modifieds, rounding out the evening’s racing card will be USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks racing for track and national points in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series.
Race fans can stop by the Casey’s General Store in Oskaloosa on Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. to help celebrate the kickoff of the Keeping the Dream Alive Tour with Zack VanderBeek and his Victory Junction USMTS Modified and pick up your $2-off coupon for the show that night at the Mahaska County Monster.

With 14 races on the schedule, the Dart Iron Man Challenge will take a driver’s 10 best points finishes toward the final year-end standings. Drivers are invited and encouraged to compete in all 14 races, but won’t be necessary for the year-end points total.
A USRA license is not required to compete in Dart Iron Man Challenge events, but only USRA-licensed drivers will be eligible for points funds in either the Dart Iron Man Challenge or American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series.
USRA rules will apply at each event. Regarding engine rules, drivers will be allowed to use the Rochester, Motorcraft or 1¾ Holley 4412 open carburetor (the same that was legal in 2008) but must be run with the Edelbrock Performer (Part #2701) or Weiand X-CELerator (Part ##7541) intake manifold. These intakes must be stock (no porting allowed). The 4412 carb must be stock and must be 1-11/16. For IMCA-legal Stock Cars, any driver wishing to run the 350 carb is allowed with a 2,800-pound weight rule. Any driver running the 604 crate motor is allowed the 4-barrel carburetor.
The American Racer KK-704 is the Official Tire of the USRA, but the Hoosier G-60 and Hoosier H is also allowed at any USRA-sanctioned track in the Modified, Stock Car and B-Mod divisions.
