BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (September 23, 2006) David Mallow of Bonne Terre has not had the best luck this season at Big River Sand Drags. Saturday night, on Mallow's wedding anniversary of all nights, the veteran racer posted his best night of the season by capturing both first place and top eliminator in the Competition Eliminator class.
It seems that he was apparently suppose to attend another couple's wedding reception, but his wife decided to "allow" big Dave to go racing instead. So when Mallow showed up at the track late, he wasn't even able to make time trials so he just had to estimate what his ET for the night would be. To say the least he guessed right. In fact, he was able to knock off John "The Legend" Dreher of Wentzville (who finished second in the class) in the top eliminator race.
"Maybe I should start doing this all the time," laughed Mallow after the races.
In other classes, Philip Beaird of St. Louis was the first place winner and top eliminator in Vehicle ET while Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre was second.
In Stock Buggy, Cody Sellers of Arnold was first with Ralph Smith of Mineral Point taking second and winning the top eliminator race.
In Junior ATV, Whitney Dee of Leadwood was the top eliminator and first place winner while Desiree Patterson-Conway of Leadwood was second.
In ATV-1, Allie Glatczak of Potosi was the top eliminator and first place winner while Keith Burkhart was second.
In Pro ATV, Eric McCoy of Potosi was first with Jimmy "Superfly" Farris of Potosi taking second and top eliminator.
In Super Pro ATV, Kevin Betzer Jr. of Arnold was the top eliminator and first place winner while Mark Gregg of Hillsboro took second place.
This Saturday night (September 30) is the final night of the regular season at BRSD and will conclude with the annual "Tournament of Champions" to decide the overall track champions in both MSRA and ATV. Gates open at 3 p.m. with time trials at 4, racing starts at 7. For more information go to: www.bigriversanddrags.com or phone (573) 747-0566.
