Daytona Beach, Florida (05/29/13) – Dillon Wood was behind the wheel of his #1w Keyser Manufacturing/Gotta Race/Rocket/Clements Racing Engine/ Super Late Model over the weekend as he enjoyed a career outing with two wins to go with a pair of top ten finishes.

The weekend opened for Dillon on Friday night in the $4,000-to-win finale for the Spring Nationals Late Model Series at Boyds Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia). Thirty-six competitors converged on the 1/4 mile, bullring for the program, and time trials locked him into the seventh starting spot for the 40 lap finale. He raced in the top ten for the duration of the event before recording a tenth place finish at the checkered flag. Full results from the event are available at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com .

On Saturday night the action shifted to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for an Ultimate Super Late Model Series event, and when the final checkered flag had dropped on the program he had claimed his first victory of the 2013 season. Thirty Super Late Models entered the program, and he started the night by blazing to fast time honors with a 15.192 second lap around the 1/2 mile oval to lock into the pole position for the feature. He snagged the lead at the drop of the green flag, and went on to lead the entire race to register the victory over Billy Ogle Jr., Ray Cook, Chris Ferguson, and Casey Roberts. Sunday evening took the team to Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia) for a $2,000-to-win program, where Wood earned the fourteenth starting spot for the feature before registering a fifth place finish at the checkered flag.

Monday night found the team entering their fourth event of the weekend with a $3,000-to-win race at Tri County Race Track (Brasstown, North Carolina), and by the time the event was over, Dillon had scored his second win of the weekend. After recording the second fastest lap of the night in qualifications Wood started second in the feature alongside Casey Roberts. Dillon led the first two laps before Roberts took over the lead. Lap 30 found Wood retaking the lead when Roberts jumped the cushion, and Dillon went on to lead the final ten laps to score the win! Chip Brindle, David Payne, Johnny Chastain, and George Mashburn rounded out the top five finishers. Full results are available at www.TriCountyRaceTrack.com .

“Mark and Josh Richards (at Rocket Chassis) have really helped me a lot,” Wood said. “Also, Gary Winger with the (Integra) shocks and Scott Keyser with Keyser Manufacturing and my dad and Derry Gahring. All those people really make it happen for me. Even Gerald at Gotta Race in Arizona. You have to have a good team and I have a good team.”

The team doesn't plan to compete anywhere this weekend, but will return to action on Saturday, July 8th with a $4,000-to-win, Ultimate Super Late Model Series event at Toccoa Speedway (Toccoa, Georgia). Full results from the event are available at www.UltimateSupers.com .
