DOE RUN, MO--(May 19, 2006) After a two week delay due to wet conditions, Doe Run Raceway kicked off their 2006 racing season this past Friday night.

Casey Barnhouse led all 20 laps of the 600cc Multi feature to bring home his first feature win of 2006 at the raceway. After winning his heat race, Barnhouse lined up on the outside front row starting spot of the main event. Tony Roney, who earned the front row pole starting position after winning the first heat pressured Barnhouse but was never able to make the complete pass. Joey Boyd finished third, Eric Edwards fourth and Brad McDaniel fifth. Mark Shirshekan followed Roney across the line for a second place finish in the first heat, Keaton Dobbs third. Matt Dotson was next in line behind Barnhouse in the second heat, Joey Boyd third.

In the Mini Stock class, Marty Boyer was a two time winner, winning both his heat race and the main event. Bill Nickelson brought home a well deserved second place finish behind Boyer in the main while Ron Moser finished third, Brian Cox fourth and Keith Buckley fifth. Nickelson finished second to Boyer in the first heat, Steve Wright third. Shannon Burch won the first heat, Cox second and Denver Counts third.

Scottie Gretzmacher won the 25 lap stock kart feature event by a wide margin over second place finisher Andrew Cash. Jesse Wright finished third, Garret Burns fourth and Landon Barks fifth. Wright won the first heat, Mackenzie Roney second and Cash third. Barks won the second heat, Burns second and Lee Stuppy third.

In the Dwarf Car class, Matt Dotson was also a two time winner at the Raceway, winning both his heat race and the feature event. Jim Daly finished second to Dotson in the A-Main, Billy Joe Beard third, Chris Hayes fourth and Robert Halbrook fifth. Beard took second place in the heat race, Daly third.

New for 2006 at the Raceway is the Hornet class. Hornets are built from front wheel drive four cylinder cars. One of the more interesting car specifications with this class is the fact that all cars must have working car radio's and horns. CD players are listed as optional equipment. In the inaugural feature event, Matt Greif drove his zebra striped number 1 3/4 car to victory after Jory Norris had to bow out with a blown right front tire. When accepting the trophy, Greif did a front straightaway victory dance to the music on his radio.

Racing will resume at Doe Run Raceway on Friday June 2nd with all classes participating. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice begins at 7:30 p.m., racing begins at 8:00 p.m. For more information, phone the track at (573) 756-8889.
