Mother Nature cooperates--finally!
DOE RUN, MO--(May 22, 2005) Mother Nature was finally in a cooperative mood Friday night at Doe Run Raceway allowing a complete night of racing activites including make up features in the Mini Stock and 600cc Multi class.
In the Multi class make up feature event, Casey Barnhouse grabbed the top spot followed by Joey Boyd, Junior Ferguson, Andy Malpocker and Brian Keen.
Shannon Burch carried the checkers in the Mini Stock make up feature. Burch led wire to wire, holding off Dave Wofford in what proved to be just a primer of the excitement that still lay ahead. Wofford had to settle for second, Brian Cox third, Brian McGee fourth and Marty Boyer fifth.
In the nights regular racing action, Matt Dotson picked up his first feature win of the 2005 season in the 600cc Multi class. Dotson started the night off right; winning his heat race which earned him a front row starting position for the main event. Despite numerous caution flags, Dotson held on and grabbed the prized checkered flag. Jimmy Bridgeman finished second, Andy Malpocker third, Tommy Boyd fourth and Junior Ferguson fifth.
Joey Boyd won the first heat, Tyler Robbins second, Bridgeman third. Following Dotson across the line in the second heat were Casey Barnhouse and Dustin Barks. Zack Daum won the third heat, Kevin Bess second and Nathan Faenger third.
The Mini Stock class is proving to be "edge of your seat" racing action for the fans this season and Friday night was no exception. Dave Wofford jumped out in front at the green flag and led all 15 laps to earn his second win of the evening. Shannon Burch finished second after an early race spin sent him to the back of the field. Ron Moser finished third spot, Brian Cox fourth and Bill Nickelson fifth.
Wofford won the first heat, Brian Cox second and Marty Boyer third. Burch was first across the line in the second heat, Moser second and Steve Wright third.
Mike Zaricor won the Dwarf Car feature followed by Glenn Province, Billy Craig, Bill Beard and Jeffrey Asher. Zaricor also had a victory in the first heat followed by Bill Beard in the runner up spot and Chris Hayes third. Vince Conway won the second heat, Province second and Billy Joe Beard third.
In the Stock Kart class, Andrew Cash came out on the winning end after a hard fought battle with Jesse and Braydon Wright. Jesse Wright finished second, Braydon Wright third, Landon Barks fourth and Scottie Gretzmacher fifth. Braydon Wright won the heat race, Cash second and Jesse Wright third.
Racing will resume on Friday, May 27 with night one of the 2005 Non Winged Multi point series. Also participating will be the Mini Stocks, Dwarfs and Stock Karts.
