DOE RUN, MO--Doe Run Raceway had the privilige of hosting some of the best 600cc mini sprint racing in the Midwest this past weekend as the MARA Mini Sprints rolled into town for the 2 day Summer Sizzler. The Mini Sprints were joined by the Dwarf cars, Mini Stocks and Stock Kart classes.
In Friday night's action, Derek King led all 20 laps of the Mini Sprint A-Main to pick up his first victory of the season. Neil Shepherd finished second, Tony Roney third, Joey Boyd fourth and Daniel Robinson fifth.
Shepherd won the first heat, King second and Jake Bess third. Tom Dickerman won the second heat followed by Casey Barnhouse and Daniel Robinson. Joey Boyd won the third heat, Tyler Robbins second and Shane Thomas third. Dustin Barks won the fourth heat, Matt Dotson second and Ryan Criswell third. Dickerman carried the checkers in the 8 lap dash, King second and Roney third. Matt Dotson and Jacob Patton finished first and second in the first of two B-Mains to transfer to the A-Main. Transferring from the second "B" were Brody Stewart and Brian Steele.
Ryan Criswell put his #79 in victory lane after leading all 20 laps of Saturday's A-Main. Neil Shepherd finished second, Tony Roney third, Derek King fourth and Dustin Barks fifth.
King won the first heat, Jimmy Bridgeman second and Tyler Robbins third. Gary Bouhy won the second heat, Keith Steele second and Jimmy Stearns third. Shepherd won the third heat, Roney second and Joey Boyd third. Criswell won the fourth heat, Barks second and Ronnie Slade third. Criswell crossed the line first in the 8 lap dash, Shepherd second and King third. Tom Dickerman, Brian Steele, Daniel Robinson and Cory Klug finished 1,2, 3, 4 in the B-Main transfer positions.
Marty Boyer of Potosi, MO earned two A-Main victories in the Mini Stock division this past weekend. Rounding out the top five Friday night were Dave Wofford Jr, CJ Wright, Ron Moser and Bill Nickelson
Wofford won the first heat, Boyer second and Brian McGee third. Shannon Burch won the second heat, Ron Moser second and CJ Wright third.
Shannon Burch picked up a second place finish behind Boyer in Saturday's main event, Ron Moser third, Brian Cox fourth and Brian McGee fifth.
Boyer won the first heat, McGee second and Cox third. Burch won the second heat, Moser second and Denver Counts third.
Dave Huffman won the A-Main Friday night in the Dwarf Car division. Matt Dotson finished an impressive second in his first night out in the class, Chris Hayes third, Billy Craig fourth and Vince Conway fifth. Conway won the first heat, Huffman second and Billy Joe Beard third. Mike Zaricor carried the checkers in the second heat, Dotson second and Brad Paquet third.
Landon Barks proved he is a force to contend with in the Stock Kart class Friday night. Barks picked up a feature win after a nasty flip in the heat race forced him to start in the back of the field. Barks slowly but surely made his way to the front and when the checkered flew, it was the #8 first across the line. Scottie Gretzmacher finished second, Maggie Almon third, Amber Bayless fourth and Mackenzie Roney fifth.
Andrew Cash won the heat race, Jesse Wright second and Almon third.
Cash returned to victory lane two times Saturday night winning both the heat race and the A-Main. Braydon Wright finished second to Cash in the main event, Jesse Wright third, Landon Barks fourth and Maggie Almon fifth. Braydon Wright ran second behind Cash in the heat race, Barks third.
