Doe Run thoughts.....June 19

The GVRA invaded the Doe Run Raceway in Beautiful Doe Run Missouri last night for the 2nd time this season. We actually got to put in a full program...mother nature stayed away this weekend!

First off, I have to once again address the skeptics of our group. I have a ripped door skin, bent nerf bar, twisted quarter panel and sore ribs that prove we do RACE our cars... Tim Eaves lost power during the heat, while sliding around 3 and 4. He nearly spun as I collected him, straightening out his slide and coasting across the finish line. Straightened Tim's bumper and flattened a tire, knocked the wind out of me and messed up the aforementioned parts on my car. Nothing Serious, no hard feelings. We both know what happened and why...it's all good. That is what I love about the GVRA. Real Competition without any BS, over-driving, or careless drivers.:)

Secondly I have to address the group that was at DRR last night... Next time we need to make better use of the trash cans. We were the last to leave and we went through our section of the pits and picked up quite a bit of trash. I know it wasn't just from us, as there were other class cars mixed in around all of us, but still...it wasn't a horrible mess, but it made us look bad (in my eyes). Track management thanked us for picking it up so they didn't have to (They said nothing bad about our group). I just feel that we should be better than that!;)

And for the final thought this week...
NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON A RACECAR....NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT IS!!!

Those who were there know, but for those who don't...Dad was struck by a kart after hot laps last night. One of the kart drivers(14x)was stopped by dad to put his bumper back on. In the process of motioning him over, out of the turn lane, Dad stepped to the side to give him room to pull over. In the meantime, a second kart(17b) drove around the first kart and struck Dad. Senseless act, period. 14x was pulled off the right side of the lane, and 17b passed him on the right( the lane was to the left side of 14x). Dad never saw it coming... One second he was trying to get the 14x to stop, next he was looking at the sky.

:)Dad's okay, got some scratches and bumps. He said he feels like he overworked himself yesterday and his neck is a lil sore. Otherwise, he's fine..

See y'all July 3rd....
