Scelzi has limited laps at 34 Raceway - he placed seventh in 2017 during his lone appearance - and at Wilmot Raceway - a 12th-place result highlights two career starts in 2016. This weekend will be his debut at Terre Haute Action Track.

"I'm looking forward to three races at three tracks, which are all different sizes," he said. "It will be a good challenge to go to a different track with a different shape three nights in a row."

Scelzi competed with the World of Outlaws last weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway, which hosted the Independence Day Shootout. It began on Thursday with qualifying for the Friday and Saturday programs.

"Every year you go there it's all about your pill draw," he said. "If you pill draw bad you won't qualify well. That's exactly what happened. We were one of the last to go out in both sessions. We qualified where you expect someone to going out that late in qualifying."

Scelzi timed in 18th quickest for Friday's program and 20 th quickest for Saturday's event.

He then advanced a position to finish fifth in a heat race to open Friday's competition. That locked him into the 15th starting position for the main event.

"I felt decent in the heat race," he said. "Then in the main event the track was really wet around the bottom. We were tight and lost a couple of spots to finish 17th."

Scelzi again gained a position to place sixth in a heat race on Saturday. He lined up 16th and drove into the top 10 during the A Main.

"In the main event I think I was ninth or 10th when a red flag came out," he said. "The three cars in front of me, I was right there with them prior to the red flag. I thought we'd be able to at least get another position or two. We pushed back off after the red flag and I had no brakes. The cushion was against the wall so you had to use the brake to rotate the car up top and on the bottom you had to really slow down. With no brakes I wasn't able to do that. I felt like we had a good recovery to be running in the top 10 so it was frustrating to run into that problem."

Scelzi salvaged a 15th-place result.
