Haubstadt, IN - May 17, 2013 - The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series has two big races scheduled over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Drivers will be able to test their skills at getting around a 5/16th mile oval on Saturday night the 25th and then a bit tighter ¼ mile facility on Sunday night. Racing begins with the first of two visits for the series this season at the Lincoln Park Speedway along U.S. Highway 40 in Putnamville, IN, and continues 127 miles to the South the next night at Tri-State Speedway on U.S. Highway 41 at Haubstadt, IN.

It will be the only time this season that sprint car teams will have to prepare for back to back MSCS appearances. Fans have the opportunity to include these two days of MSCS sanctioned sprint car racing in their holiday weekend plans. Both features will pay $2,500 to win. Sunday night’s race at Tri-State Speedway is also a King of Indiana Sprint Car event and the field will include drivers chasing KISS points as well as MSCS points. The race is the fifth of the seven needed to complete the 2013 KISS season.

The May 25th date is the earliest appearance of the series at Lincoln Park Speedway since 2001. That spring the series raced on May 19th with Wil Newlin the winner. Kyle Cummins won the feature last August during the series most recent appearance at the track. Robert Ballou was second and 2012 Champion Jon Stanbrough finished third. Promoter Joe Spiker brought the series back to the track in 2011. Casey Shuman won that one over Brady Short. Three time MSCS Champion Kyle
Cummins was fifth. Car counts have been good with 30 sprints the
average these past two years.

The May 26th date will be the second appearance for MSCS at Tri-State Speedway this season. The MSCS season began at the track on May 11th in a combined appearance with the United States Auto Club. Twenty MSCS regulars were involved in this match-up which provided a 34 car field. Kevin Thomas Jr. won the event from the pole but was challenged and pursued by a strong field of cars and drivers including Robert Ballou and Chase Stockon. Jon Stanbrough won last season’s Memorial Weekend Classic. That was the first year that this date was used for the MSCS/KISS combined show. The June date for the
2010 MSCS/KISS race at Tri-State was a rain out.

A feature victory at the MSCS series opener propelled Kevin Thomas Jr. into the MSCS series points lead. Brady Short led the KISS series points after the Gas City I-69 Speedway stop. That was the result of two feature wins in just three opportunities. The top ten for both series is loaded with top flight talent. Drivers enjoying early season success and currently included on both top 10 lists include Robert Ballou, Brady Short, and Kevin Thomas Jr. For these drivers & others this one race has a double benefit for a good run and perhaps more serious ramifications for a poor showing.

Racing begins at 7 P.M. E.D.T. at Lincoln Park Speedway and 7:30 P.M.
C.D.T. at Tri-State Speedway. Arrive an hour earlier to enjoy hot laps!
