Inside Line Promotions - GREENWOOD, Neb. (May 8, 2019) - Jack Dover rallied for a podium finish last Friday at I-80 Speedway.
Dover garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars during the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints main event on the fast track, which made passing difficult.
"We had a great car and did the best we could given the circumstances of the track as well as the lack of a caution," he said. "We were really pleased to make the progress we did and end the night in third, especially with the level of talent racing there."
The night began with Dover advancing from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. That ranked him 10th in overall points and lined Dover up on the outside of the fifth row for the feature.
"The track was fast all night because of the weather the area has received lately so the pill draw ended up being pretty important," he said. "Unfortunately, we started toward the back of a heat race and just didn't gain enough positions to make the feature redraw. However, moving forward every time we were on the track was great and we ended the night happy."
The third-place outing marked Dover's second podium of the season.
He is scheduled to return to action this Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region before racing on Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
"We have a lot of wins at U.S. 36 and at Park Jefferson throughout the years so it's always exciting to head to tracks where you know you've been successful," he said. "Hopefully we have some good weather and can get both nights in. I think if everything aligns we can contend for the win at both tracks."
Dover was victorious at both tracks last season and he has won at least once during each of the last five years at Park Jefferson International Speedway.
