Alexander, Arkansas (06/14/11) – Drew Armstrong piloted his #01a Armstrong Auto-Sports/Larry Shaw Open Wheel Modified to his first career Open Wheel Modified feature win on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway, and then backed it up with his best career finish at I-30 Speedway on Saturday night.
Friday night was a huge night at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) for Drew Armstrong as he claimed the first win of his Open Wheel Modified career. After starting fourth in his heat race, he quickly drove to the front and went on to claim the heat race win. In the feature he would start in the seventh position, and once again he would quickly drive to the front of the pack and would never look back on his way to his first career Open Wheel Modified feature win, which came over Ronnie Jeffrey and Jeff Emerson. After his first career Open Wheel Modified win on Friday night, Drew backed it up with a great outing on Saturday night at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas). Twenty-seven Open Wheel Modifieds entered the event and after charging from the fourth starting spot to a second place finish in heat race action, he started sixth in the main event. He would once again charge to the front of the pack in the 25 lap feature as he recorded a second place finish to race winner, David Payne. It was his best ever finish at I-30 Speedway.
