DuQuoin under the lights

Well, It was just awesome. If the powers that be in the State Fair don't decide to make the night races the new deal, then they just don't get it. The lighting was magnificent, not a shadow anywhere. The mods and the Silver Crowns put on good races. Teddy Beach set a new track record qualifying in the SC cars. Rich Tobias came from 26th to win. Darland was involved in a crash on lap 10, was sent to the tail and came back by lap 90 to challenge for the lead. Unfortunately a lot of cars chose soft rubber because of the dark and cool weather and had those used up by lap 85 or so. Donnie Beechler came from 17th to finish second. Great race! The crowd (not bad for a rain date and considering a lot of fans were at their local tracks doing season ending championships) loved it. If you get the chance to see them under the lights. don't miss it.
Of local interest, Mike Hess car broke the front drive while firing up to hot lap. Galas Motorsports car broke a ring while hot lapping and couldn't qualify. Randy Bateman made the main thru the Hooligan but couldn't finish.

Anyone have any info on the dump truck accident during track preparation last night before the races started at Duquoin, nothing was ever announced concerning the condition of the driver, or anything?

The guy that died in the dump truck accident was Charlie Anhiser. I was told that he was looking behind him and hit the wall, that swung the truck around and the weight caused it to roll. They said he was hanging half way out.
