East Bay Up Next For Stormpay.com Dirt Late Model Series

CLARKSVILLE, TN – The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Powered By Crate Racin’ USA will travel to East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL for three non-point events on February 12, 13, and 14. With the three events being non-points races, the series will not require entrants to purchase a StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series membership.

The February 12 and 13 races will be $2,000-to-win events, and the finale on February 14 will pay $3,000-to-win. In addition to waving the membership requirement for the East Bay Raceway Park non-points races, StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series officials have also opened up the tire rule for the three events.

In addition to the Hoosier D21, the Hoosier Spec 55 (WRS-2 or HTS), the American Racer 44, the American Racer Spec. 56, and the American Racer Crate 56, series officials will also allow three other tires for these three events only. The Hoosier D35 along with the Goodyear G40 and G50 will also be permitted.

StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series officials said that the hardest compound of each tire make (Hoosier 55, American Racer 56, and Goodyear G50) must be run on the right-rear at all times for the three races.

Among the entrants expected for the three East Bay Raceway Park shows is the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National points leader Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN. Johnson won the second of the first three rounds of the 2006 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on January 21.

Johnson, a two-time winner of the Dirt Track World Championship Race, and a former Southern All-Start Champion, also leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Hard Charger point standings.

National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Purvis of Clarksville, TN will be among the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series entrants. Purvis was a multi-time NDRA National Dirt Late Model Champion in the mid-80s before moving on to NASCAR competition on the Busch Grand National and Winston Cup levels.

Shannon Buckingham of Morristown, TN will also be traveling to Tampa, FL for the three races. Buckingham is second in the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National point standings, just six points behind Johnson. Buckingham posted a second-place effort in his last series outing at Golden Isle Speedway in Brunswick, GA after leading 11 laps of the race on February 4.

Other top entrants include 2005 StormPay.com National championship runner-up Jeff Fields of Aragon, GA, Jimmy Kay of Taylorsville, GA, and Terry Eaglin of Dillsboro, IN.
