Electric cooling fan

Hello, anyone ever used an electric cooling fan in a metric streetstock? Added an alternator over the winter and was thinking about an electric fan vs mechanical. Thanks for any input.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. They use them in Nascar. I would see if you can get some air flow numbers.

Your car has quite a bit of frontal area and that will help to keep it cool. About 15 years ago we tried a really good one on a pavement modified and it would not keep the engine cool while racing yet the same exact fan worked fine on a pavement late model. We felt it was just because the car didn't have enough frontal area so we had to keep running a mechanical fan(6 blades). We did some dyno testing and we found that the fan didn't draw all that much horsepower anyway so it wasn't a big loss. I'd say its worth it as an experiment.

Thanks for the responses, I was just curious. I haven't seen anyone using one at the local tracks. I may experiment with it. Thanks again.
