Millstadt, IL - The POWRi National Midget and 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint Series presented by Speedway Motors invade Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, IL for the Herb Barlow Memorial on Friday September 17th and Spoon River Speedway in Canton, IL for the Tom Knowles Memorial on Saturday September 18th. This is a staple weekend for the midgets in Central Illinois as these two raceways have hosted these events for 20 plus years in September. The micro’s will accompany the midgets at Jacksonville Speedway only and then the midgets will make the hour trek north to Spoon River the following day.
The POWRI midgets will bring their usual contingent as the point season draws near a close with names like Loyet, Kuhn, Brown, Daum and Knepper battling at the top of the standings. With five events remaining on the schedule, Loyet would like to lock down the National Midget Championship early with good finishes at these two events. Meanwhile the 600cc Micro Sprint Championship is still up for grabs as Andrew Felker and Jeremy Camp fight for the top spot and put themselves in POWRi lore. Three time defending POWRi Micro Sprint Champ; Derek King is within striking distance as well.
