The hotbed of winged 410 Sprint Car racing in Northern Ohio just got hotter. The Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title organization has released the point fund total for the 2009 racing season. “This is still an ongoing process,” said FAST organizer Bryan Autullo. “We have secured over $27,000 in cash and $25,000 in parts, prizes, and certificates from advertisers, sponsors, fans, and both tracks making this first year point fund worth more than $50,000!” Autullo went on to say, “I want to personally thank both Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway for stepping up to contribute to this point fund to get us to our goal. Their dedication to this idea and their continued support has ultimately gone above and beyond what was expected of them.”
Autullo and co-organizer Scott Porter have been hard at work all through the winter months making this concept a reality and have garnered the support of many people within the racing industry as well as some who had never heard of a sprint car before, but saw this as an opportunity to reach a new market with their advertising.
“We’re going to pay the winner of this Championship Series $10,000 cash plus prizes, certificates, and parts,” said Autullo. “The Champion will take home over $12,000 in cash and prizes along with the Inaugural Kistler Cup trophy and bragging rights for a year.” Porter added, “We’ll announce the full breakdown for the Top 10 at a later date, but we will say that 10th place will receive $1000 plus prizes. We'll also have a 410 Rookie of the Year award.”
The FAST organization has several other plans in place to distribute awards throughout the season as well. “We’ll have prizes and certificates to hand out at each of our events for various things,” stated Porter. “We’ll be making further announcements on those programs in the coming weeks. We also have some packages lined up to give away and raffle off to fans at each of our events.”
The FAST point fund is based on commitments from advertisers and sponsors who have agreed to contribute to this organization’s vision for the betterment of local sprint car racing. In such a weak economy it has been no easy task finding companies that are willing and able to participate, though many said they would have gladly been a part of it if they were not so financially strapped. It is our hope that all companies who have decided to participate in supporting this point fund are able to fulfill their commitments. “We would like to thank each and every one of them who are on board with us for the 2009 season,” said Autullo. “Our goal is to deliver on our promises to them and see them back again in 2010.”
