(MARION, IL) The Fastrak Midwest Region Late Models are set to headline the opening night of the 2005 Bond County Fair on Aug. 3 at the Bond County Fairgrounds in Greenville, IL. Current Championship leader “Gentleman” Joe Morris, of Galatia, IL holds onto a five point lead over Paducah, Kentucky’s Kevin Poole, while Scott Hutchinson, of Johnston City, IL trails Poole by a scant two points. With the points chase so close and seven events remaining, the championship is still wide open.

The Fair plays host this year to the first Bomber Big Dawg Challenge; a $250 to win bomber race for bragging rights, the Big Dawg Trophy, and a one of a kind “I WON the BIG DAWG!” t-shirt. The Big Dawg offers a rare opportunity for local bomber drivers to race on neutral ground to see who really is the local bomber racing Big Dawg. Sam Kizer, current Street Stock championship leader at Tri-City Speedway, will be there looking to claim the winners check, while local Greenville hot-shoe Robby Benson will be there to stop him. Highland Speedway feature winner Nathan Schmitt will be on hand, hoping to continue his recent run of success, and Belleville regular Rod “Kids Come First” Haffer is planning to make his first appearance at Bond County Raceway.

Also racing are the Outlaw Micros and 4 cylinder factory stocks. This event is a point’s event for the Bond County ‘Sizzlin Six’ track championship.

Grandstands open at 6 p.m., racing is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and children 13 and over, $5 for kids 6 to 12; children 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $25 and the pit gates open at 4 p.m. For more information online go to www.bondcountyraceway.com, or call Fastrak Midwest 618-993-1122 or 618-889-7643.
