Lawndale, North Carolina – With the National Weather Service predicting an 80% chance of rain this evening and tonight and up to a 70% chance on Saturday series and track officials have opted to rescheduled both the FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division events and the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series event scheduled this weekend at Cleveland County. All 3 events will be made up at later dates. The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series event will move to Friday night, April 6th while at least one of the FASTRAK events will move to Friday night, May 25th. The remaining event will be announced at a later date.

“With the economy still lulling and diesel fuel prices close to $5.00 a gallon and gasoline approaching $4.00 a gallon, an 80% chance of rain is too high to ask all of these race teams and race fans to chance coming and wasting that fuel. We have been watching the weather all week long. It had improved and last night we felt like Friday night was going to be clear long enough to get it in. But now NOAA / NWS predicts rain to begin between 8 and 9 PM. ULTIMATE Series announcer Tommy Tedder, who lives in the area of the track, reports the local weather forecast has been similarly grim. Series Director Kelley Carlton and I have communicated back and forth on almost an hourly basis and we just don’t see anyway the rain is going to miss us. We may end up looking foolish but I just know that a big fuel bill paired with a rainout can be devastating for a race team right now. No one wanted to race anymore than we did. We have invested money in advertising and what not and that was all for not now. I hate it. It’s really a no win situation but at least we can possibly save some of teams and fans some money. It just seems like this is the best decision for everyone.” said Stan Lester of FASTRAK.

The opening night the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will now be pushed to Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia on Friday night, March 30th. That event is a weekend doubleheader, which will take the ULTIMATE teams to North Georgia Speedway on Saturday night, March 31st. The season opener for the FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Divisions will now be Friday night, April 13th at Cleveland County Speedway in Lawndale, North Carolina. That will also be a doubleheader weekend for the FASTRAK Teams with 311 Speedway in Madison, North Carolina scheduled for Saturday, April 14th.
