West Georgia Speedway enjoys the Success of being “Fastrak weekly sanctioned”.

Last Saturday night the West Georgia Speedway in Whitesburg GA held it’s “opening night” for the 2006 season. In fact this was the first time crate engine late models have raced there so no one really know what the outcome would be. What will the car count be? Who will be there? Did we make the right decision going Fastrak weekly sanctioned? There were lots of questions yet to be answered.

To everyone’s amazement and great satisfaction 18 cars were on hand for the first Fastrak weekly sanctioned event. Jody Palmer was there as well as Heath Henry newly appointed R&D Director as well as the local drivers and several Fastrak Touring Series cars and the place was packed with fans and cars in all classes!

In speaking with track management afterwards they were quick to say they were very, very happy with the turn out. The Fastrak traveling teams came in and supported the event as well as the local cars and they appreciated them doing so. We are more than happy with our affiliation with the Fastrak series. Fastrak is really trying to work with us. Not only the management staff but also the Fastrak traveling teams. That was impressive. We think it’s a great match for West Georgia speedway.

“I was happy” stated Series Founder Stan Lester. “Eighteen cars for a one time event and especially in light the fact that crate engine late models had never raced there before is pretty incredible in my opinion. I know of tracks that have been running these cars for two years and don’t have that many on a weekly basis. I know of more teams that are coming this week. I look for even a larger car count. Our teams are the best in this country in supporting not only the traveling series but also they recognize the importance of the weekly tracks. We have been preaching this for two years now and it looks like it is finally coming to fruition. I really appreciate our teams making the effort to support all of our weekly tracks. It takes everyone to make this grow. I am a little prejudice, but I think our teams are the best people in racing”.

Brain and his group at West Georgia have improved the facility. Everyone one of our drivers commented on how great the surface was there. I am head there this Saturday night just to see it in person. I look forward to going there for our first Touring event for the year on March 24th and 25th. It should be a fantastic event. The Mid East and Southern Regions will both be on hand for this event. There are drivers coming from as far away as Wisconsin. The fans are West Georgia Speedway are about to see a race like never before. There is a ton of excitement “in the air” in anticipation of our first event.
