Farmington, MO (July 18) -- After severe weather wiped out last week show. Five classes were on hand Saturday to entertain the fans. Our regular classes were on hand along with the Mini Stock Class. These are four cylinder cars and trucks that campaign at Doe Run Raceway and now closed Montgomery County Speedway.

In the main headliner Tommy Worley, Jr returned to the winners circle. Driving a machine owned by Ed Hunt, Worley had little trouble with the field as he led the entire distance. There were no yellow flags in the event. Worley was gracious and emotional in the Winners Circle. He dedicated this win to the people that were injured on June 20th.

Chasing Worley to the finish were Keith Burch in second, Steve Short with his best effort of the season in third, 2009 Point Leader, Joey Montgomery takes fourth, and two-time winner Jimmy Hurley completing the top five.

Modified racing was crowded at the front as always. Brent Thompson found his way back to the top for the second week in a row. During the first three laps there were three different leaders. Jim Black led lap 1, followed by Kasey Nations for lap 2, and Brent Thompson took the lead on lap 3 and never looked back. Two distinct grooves were visible on the track, one high and one low. Nation worked the top like a master. Throwing rooster tail and scrapping the wall. Thompson and second place finisher Matt Eaton, were like bottom feeding catfish. Neither moving much up the track. Point leader David Shepard had trouble advancing to the main from his heat and had to run the B-Main. He won that, started deep in the field, and finished sixth in the final count. Following Thompson, Eaton, and Nations. Jeremy Greenwalt and Jim Black finished fourth and fifth.

Brian Blair continued his dominance of the Pure Street Division by winning his sixth feature event of 2009. Chris Boyd, Mike Savage and Shane Blair did their best to chase him down, but could not pass. Eddie Gross had another fine run for a fifth place finish.

The class of the field in the 600 Multi field was as usual, Kyle Amerson. Amerson would run away from the field and get another win, sort of. After the Victory Lane presentation, questions were raised about the motor of the 29 machine of Amerson. After further inspection, it was found to be illegal. This would strip away his win and hand it to Brandon Nixon. Nixon, the 2007 Multi Champion, returned to the track this season after a year absence. Nixon was chased to the flag by Dave Chilton, Matt Ponder, Lynda Blanke, and Jason Daugherty. This was a double point night for the Division. Instead of extending his lead, the field will now get closer to him for the 2009 Championship.

The annual visit of the Mini-Stocks found Farmington’s own Keith Buckley in the Winners Circle. Buckley was running a steady second behind all race leader, Jack Tschannon. Tschannon had the field covered, only to lose it coming off the second turn. Glancing off the wall and finishing his night. Last years winner, Megan Bell, had trouble with her car. She lost a drive shaft and finished eleventh. In the closing laps, on the front straight, Jathon Cruse and Andrewe Nausley got together. Nausley was the worse for wear ah his mount turned over. He landed back on all fours, but the cars was finished. Cruse would continue. Buckley was followed by Kyle Jarrett, Bob Wright, Ray Statler, and Cruse.

Action will continue next Saturday with our regular classes of winged sprints, IMCA Type Modifieds, Pure Street, and 600 Multi’s. Sprint Division will be running for $2000 to win. Also Rain checks that were not used from July 11th, will be honored. This will be the last chance to use them. Adult admission for the grandstand is $10, Children under 12 with a paid adult are admitted free. Pit Passes are $25. Gates open 4:00. Hot Laps around 6:00 and the first race takes the green about 7:00. Race night radio available on 91.9 FM. This only at the track. More information is also available on the track website at www.sfcr-online.com.
