Pevely, MO (July 17, 2010) Ricky Frankel of Quincy, Illinois claimed his first victory ever UMP DIRTcar Late Model win at I-55 Raceway as he won a spectacular main event that saw four different leaders over the twenty-five laps. Jeff Johns jumped out to the early lead over pole sitter Paul Roider and paced the first ten laps. After several laps of side by side racing with Roider, Mark Voigt would finally get clear and into the second position and would reel Johns in. The two would battle side by side for the lead for several laps until Brant Kehrer made it a three way battle for the top spot. Kehrer would use the low side and move past both Johns and Voigt to take over the top spot. Kehrer would only lead for a few laps before Ricky Frankel would get a run through the middle of the track and move past Kehrer for the lead who was still running the very bottom. Frankel would hold off the challenges of Kehrer in the closing laps to earn the win with Kehrer finishing a close second. Scott Weber was also on the move through the pack in the closing laps and would finish third. Mark Voigt would rally back to fourth after falling out of the top five. Bryan Collins would finish in the fifth spot. Danny Haynes would get by Johns on the final lap to earn sixth. Meanwhile, early leader Johns would fall to the seventh spot as the entire top ten would finish very close together.
Rusty Griffaw jumped out front at the drop of the green flag from his front row pole starting spot and held off Ray Walsh to earn the victory in the UMP DIRTcar Modified division. Walsh, who started sixth in the main event, moved into second place on lap nine and then reeled in Griffaw to challenge him for the top spot. Walsh was able to pull along side Griffaw on several occasions but could not get the pass completed. A late caution would reset the field and on the restart, Griffaw would pull away and finish several car lengths ahead of Walsh. Ricky Horton would take third with Robbie Helms finishing fourth and Mark Miner fifth.
Chuck Adams appeared to be on his way to his first victory in 2010 in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman division. Adams dominated the first eleven laps of the fifteen lap main event before his engine expired going into turn one on lap twelve. That would turn the lead over to Jeff Herzog who would go on to win the main event. Brad Paquet would get past Jimmy Cummins and take over the second spot, but couldn't get around Herzog for the win. Cummins would settle for the third spot with Trey Harris taking fourth and Jim Smith fifth.
Jacob McCallister got past early leader Earl Pryor on lap four and went on to another convincing victory in the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Philip Stuart would finish second with Tom Rorabacher third. Jessica Buechting and Blake Jost completed the top five.
