(Macon, IL) Spring weather can be fickle and that is certainly the case in central Illinois this year. Macon Speedway has become one of many area short tracks to cancel their racing program this week due to freezing temperatures. After thunderstorms forced the show to stop on the Season Opener at the racy 1/5 mile bullring last week, week two comes along with winter-like conditions. The team at Macon Speedway is looking for Saturday, April 14 to be the “third time charm” for the first full night of racing in the 2007 season.

Ticket stubs and wrist bands from the March 31 program will still be “rain-checks” for admission on April 14. Macon Speedway management has talked the Easter Bunny into postponing his visit to the track until next week, so kids will not miss out on Easter Fun originally planned for April 7. On April 14, kids will be treated to a belated visit by the Easter Bunny, candy and prizes including bicycles. Macon Speedway’s high-action weekly racing features all five UMP divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock, and Hornets plus the CARS Crate Late Models.

NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007.
Macon Speedway – racing every Saturday Night – is proud to be part of the $100,000 Contingency Connection program for the 2007 season. Macon Speedway is located 9 miles south of Decatur, IL on US 51 then .6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south on Wiles.
