Granite City, IL – Mark “The Gas Man” Gass parlayed a daring late race pass to grab his second 600cc Micro-Sprint victory of the season Saturday at Tri-City Speedway.

Bobby Lynn led the snarling gang of Micros into one at the drop of the green with Gass camped on his nerf bar and Blake Bucholz, Tom Ritter and Jason Howe shadowing their every move. Within seconds the quintet approached the back markers and began weaving through lapped traffic.

Just as the contest settled into a less frenetic pace a stalled Christopher Massey brought out the caution. Once the green flew Lynn and Gass left the field in the dust to settle their own private battle. As the two sailed nose to tail down the backstretch with three to go, Lynn lifted just a tick too soon getting in three and “The Gas Man” dove underneath to ride the rail to the front. Once ahead, he was never headed.

Chasing “The Gas Man” to the checkers were Lynn, Ritter, Howe and Bucholz. Derek O’Dell and Massey won the qualifiers.
