McCOMB, MS – David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN swept the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series preliminary events on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway for the 60-lap $5,000-to-win feature race on Sunday night. Gentry drove his Dixon Plumbing Mastersbilt to fast time, a heat race win, and the dash win to earn the pole position for the Sunday night main event.

Gentry earned $1,300 for his efforts on Saturday night. He won $500 from Hog Chain Racing for fast time, $100 from Triple A Diesel Service for winning the first 12-lap heat race, and $700 for winning the StormPay.com/Hog Chain Racing Lightning Quick 6-Lap Dash.

Gentry was the fast qualifier among the 36 entrants with a lap around the 3/8-mile clay oval in 18.302 seconds for an average speed of 73.762 miles per hour. The night’s racing was delayed for two hours by a late afternoon rain shower.

Curt Lipsey of Hammond, LA won the Triple A Diesel Service second 12-lap heat race and finished second in the StormPay.com/Hog Chain Racing Lighting Quick 6-lap Dash. Lipsey will start his Surrett Contracting Rocket on the outside front row for the Sunday night main event.

StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring point leader Shannon Buckingham of Morristown, TN earned the inside second row starting spot for Sunday’s race in the S&S Millwright Barry Wright. Buckingham won the Triple A Diesel Service third 12-lap heat race, and finished third in the StormPay.com/Hog Chain Racing Lightning Quick 6-Lap Dash.

Carnell Parker III of Clarksville, TN was the fourth-place finisher in the StormPay.com/Hog Chain Racing Lightning Quick 6-Lap Dash to earn the outside second row starting spot for the Sunday night Big Show in the Parker Racing Mastersbilt. Parker also won the Triple A Diesel Service fourth 12-lap heat race.

The top four finishers in the four Triple A Diesel Service 12-lap heat races transferred into the Sunday night 60-lap $5,000-to-win feature race.

Following Gentry in the first heat were Landon Frith of Terry, MS in the Swinging Bridge Raceway Mastersbilt, Jeff Fields of Aragon, GA in the Summerville Junkyard Mastersbilt, and Zach Nichols of Cedartown, GA in the B&B Specialized Hauling/Kimble Shell GRT.

Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA in the Turner Excavating Hicks, Rusty Hoge of Ooltewah, TN in the H&H Powersports GRT, and Mark Tice of Hollandale, MS in the TNT Graphix Mastersbilt finished second through fourth respectively in the second heat behind Lipsey.

Davin Bates of Independence, LA in the Fralick Home Builders Rocket, Danny Joe Thomas of Robertsdale, AL in the Creel Brothers Trucking Mastersbilt, and Michael Keener of Douglasville, GA followed Buckingham home in the third heat.

Richard Guidry of Port Allen, LA in the Tony’s Custom Carburetor Barry Wright, Kevin Watts of Denham Springs, LA in the Truck and Equipment Warrior, and Jeff Purvis of Clarksville, TN in the StormPay.com/NeSmith Chevrolet Warrior rounded out the top four behind Parker in the fourth heat.

Drivers that finished fifth through ninth in the four Triple A Diesel Service Heat Races will have another opportunity to qualify for the feature race in one of two 15-lap B-Main races on Sunday night. The top three finishers in each B-Main will transfer to feature race to fill in starting positions 17 through 22.

The 23rd and 24th starting spot are StormPay.com Top 15 point provisional spots. The only Top 15 point drivers entered for the Pike County Speedway event that have not yet qualified for the feature race are Jeff Smith of Villanow, GA and Ryan Gifford of Winchester, TN.

If they should transfer to the big show through the B-Mains, the fourth-place finishers in the B-Mains would move into the main event.
