Columbus, MS-The MSCCS kicked off its 2005 tour in front of a packed house Saturday night at South Mississippi Speedway. A large contingent of 40 MSCCS Super Late Models was on hand vying for the $5,000 top prize in the 2nd Annual Frost Bite 50. The event would see multiple drivers lead the event but when it was all over it would be Lewisburg, Tennessee ace David Earl Gentry taking home the $5,000 top prize and making the exceptionally long haul to the Gulf Coast payoff handsomely for the popular middle Tennessee based driver.

Action would get underway with “The Ragin’ Rebel” David Breazeale setting fast time in Brown Engineering Pole Qualifying and would also receive a $100 Pole award from Wall 2 wall Racing Engines. The top two qualifiers from the four respective groups were locked into the field with Chris Wall earning the outside front row honors for the evening.

The remaining 22 starters would be set from the four Cliburn Tank Lines B-Main events staged with the top three transferring from each. The B-Main winners were Jim Yelverton, Scott Slay, Mike Boland, and KI Davis. Provisional starters were Dennis Duncan and Jeff Cooper.

The 50-lap main event would see attrition take its toll including bad luck striking the leaders. No less that three drivers including Chris Wall, Marlon Wild, and Mike Ladner would take the point until David Gentry took over the reigns from his eighth starting position and never looked back leading laps 21 through 50 and taking home the $5,000 first place prize in his Brown Engineering powered MasterSbilt and also receiving a nose assembly from ARP. Finishing second with an outstanding run was Jay Dickens’ MSCCS RotY contender Neil Baggett and the young Shannon, MS driver had a stellar evening while picking up $2,500 and a roller cam from Bullett Racing Cams. Completing the top five were Marty Hardy who was a man on the move making it onto the podium after starting in 20th position and was also awarded product from Schaeffer’s Oil along with Dennis Duncan who charged into the top five after taking a provisional; while David Molpus also made a run from outside the top ten to have one of his better MSCCS finishes.

The next event for the MSCCS will be Friday night March 11th at Columbus Speedway with a $2,000 to win 40-lap main event as part of the Rebel Challenge weekend that features $10,000 possible to win for the Super Late Models at Columbus Speedway.
