MADISON, Ill. - Gateway International Raceway will be the venue for the 40th Annual Model T Club of Greater St. Louis Swap Meet and Car Sale, the largest single-day swap meet in the Midwest, on April 27. Model T Club President Dan Benjey said GIR is an optimal venue for their organization.
"The Model T Club Of Greater St Louis is very pleased to have the swap meet and car sale at Gateway International Raceway this year," he said. "Each of the thirty-nine years we have been sponsoring the event it has expanded due to demand. We out grew each location and now, Gateway offers a perfect setting for the size the event has grown."
Another reason for the move, said Benjey, was the fact Gateway International Raceway offers better facilities than venues used in the past.
"I believe it's an excellent fit for us and a perfect location for the production as an automotive event. I'm sure that both our staff and vendors/buyers will appreciate the restrooms and facilities available for the event," he said.
"I believe that having the location away from congested commercial and residential areas will help us avoid parking and traffic problems with area residents and businesses. We hope to make Gateway our permanent home."
GIR Dragstrip Manager Jason Dukes said the swap meet is another example of the diversity of events at the facility. "When people hear Gateway," he said, "they automatically think racing, which is great. But we have a lot of other events as well that appeal to race fans and those with automotive interests. We're glad to have the Model T Club of Great St. Louis onboard with Gateway International Raceway and look forward to a long and productive partnership."
Vendor spaces are $40 for entries postmarked by April 4 and $50 for entries postmarked past that date. Car corral spaces are $25 prior to April 4 and $35 afterwards.
