MADISON, Ill. – In an effort to show its appreciation for those who have volunteered their service to the U.S. armed forces, Gateway International Raceway has initiated the “Thank The Military” ticket program. The program allows fans purchasing tickets to the O’Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals to donate a ticket to the USO of Missouri who will then distribute the tickets to area active duty military.
Customers who call 866-35-SPEED to purchase tickets for NHRA Full Throttle Series qualifying at Gateway on Friday, May 1, whether as a single-day ticket or as part of the three-day Track Pack, simply has to tell the GIR ticket representative they want to thank the military and a ticket will be sent to the USO of Missouri. Gateway has set aside a total of 1,000 tickets for use with this program.
“Gateway International Raceway wants to let the men and women in our military know they are appreciated for the selfless devotion they and their families have shown by protecting our freedoms and our Constitution,” said GIR Vice President and General Manager Lenny Batycki. “We want them to come out on Friday and see what the NHRA Full Throttle Series is all about and have a great time watching a sport proudly made in the U.S.A.”
Kathy O’Conner, the executive director of the USO of Missouri, said she is grateful to Gateway for providing the tickets to them. “The USO of Missouri, Inc. is pleased to partner with Gateway International Raceway by showing support for our local military personnel,” she said. “The USO of Missouri annually sponsors numerous free events for our military members and their families. By partnering with Gateway International Raceway to distribute free NHRA tickets, we are continuing to demonstrate our appreciation for the all the sacrifices our local military families make in order for us have the freedoms we hold so dear.”
In addition to the free ticket, those who choose to participate in GIR’s “Thank The Military” program can also personally thank a servicemember close to them and have their name, along with the servicemember they are honoring, on a special Web page at GatewayRaceway.com.
