BLANC, Mich. (May 25) – Bonuses from GM Performance will be paid again this season to IMCA SportMod drivers winning track championships with crate engines.
Drivers competing at 47 tracks with the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and at 24 Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMod sanctioned tracks are eligible for $250 cash prizes for each local title.
Bonuses will be paid after point standings become official in late October.
This is the second of three years for the GM bonus program. Southern SportMods became part of the program after the crate option was added for that division beginning this season.
"This season, we are continuing the GM crate engine bonus awards but focusing on drivers winning SportMod track championships with this engine option,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “In doing that, it allows us to expand the program to include Southern SportMod racers and provide cash incentives for drivers in that division participating with a crate engine.”
“The goal we've shared with GM since the inception of the crate engine has been to develop and grow the SportMod division and provide drivers with an affordable alternative to not racing at all," he added.
More information about the bonus program is available by calling Yoder at the IMCA home office, or from GM Performance at 810 606-3655.
