Godfrey Speedway October 3rd & 4th

Camaro's were outlawed in the street stock class in the St.Louis area approximately 10 years ago in favor of a full-framed car. There are now some tracks around here that will allow them to race in the sportsman division for special shows, but street stock / bombers still require a full-frame chassis. Yes, things are done differently in Central Illinois. But Godfrey isn't a Central Illinois track.

On a slightly different subject, does Jacksonville have a website? I used to see it on www.illinoisracer.com, but I think that website folded.

Bomber Pit Passes

So the bombers still have to pay $30 per person per day ( I sure wouldn't buy a two day pass in case your car got tore up the first night, because your not going to get your money back) and make a $100 to win? (IF YOU WIN). Think I'll pass on this one.

just a reminder, the usmts mods are off this weekend, these guys run an occasional ump rules show. don`t count out shryock, ron jones, mark noble, justin boney,or jason hughes. these guys are touring professional race car drivers, and i hope some of them show! it`s possible that jimmy owens and afew other ump heavy hitters will show also. hope nobody get`s pissed, but i`ll go out on a limb and, say I DOUBT IF A LOCAL WINS THIS SHOW!!!!

owens runl late models some mods questionwith the required car counthat is needed what farmer will acccomadte allthose traillers :D

Not having the Late Models usually makes a significant difference in the crowd, however it costs so much to cover the LM's purse, it is oftentimes more cost-effective to drop the class, as the promoter will have a better bottom line.

I am planning on running there Saturday, what are the Sportsman rules? Are EMODS and 4 barrels ok? Or just 2 barrels and Super Streets? Thanks.

150 cars? For a $7000 to win show. They are never going to cover that field. Not in a thousand years. Your looking at probably a $2500 to win feature over there ($3000 if they are lucky). The restriction on car count is a promoter game that usually backfires on them a little bit. The car count restriction actually causes some cars not to come. 50 cars for that payout might have been reasonable, but 150?. Give me a break.

just wondering whos the promotor of godfrey, naylor or glover?? or is it another screw up like last weekends show??

its posted 12.00 on the internet to get in the grandstands but coupon in the advantage says 10.00 general admission plus the 1.00 off with the coupon. alot of people dont have the internet so they will go by the coupon so guess godfrey will have to honor that price.....hmmmm

need to get it togeter at godfrey track.

lanejw,
how in this world would you cover a 7000 to win purse with 50 mods??? If say for instance there were 50 cars and there were a total of 4 pit passes sold for each incoming car and pit passes were 30 bucks, that would only be an 11,000 dollar take at the gate. That wouldnt even come close to covering the purse. Maybe i misread your post, if so please elaborate on your point ok. Not trying to argue with you, just trying to understand your logic on this.

Atleast Godfrey was upfront and posted the payouts for the different car counts. There should be no question for mod drivers as far as that goes.

I hope they do well with this show and can use it to build on for next year. Not too often that mods get to run for that much money anywhere that i have seen.

As far as the stands price, im pretty sure Wade isnt going to lose any sleep over the $12 or $10 situation. For Gods sake its 2 bucks, give it a break. Maybe you could take in 12 of those coupons and make sure you have the admission covered j/k lol.

CQCQ

i dont care about the fact of 2.00, my point was , guess you didnt get it, was that godfrey needs to get it together. they have advertised tow different prices and also two different expiretion dates on that coupon.

and yes they did break down the payout and cutting of the purse if they dont get the car count this time but they didnt do it last weekend and alot of drivers got screwed...they changed as they went along last weekend,

Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, KS) had a modified special last weekend that payed $5000 to win, $500 to start. In reality a better (or at least equal) purse than Godfrey's maximum payout (because they payed tons better through the field I believe). They had no minimum car count. Thats because they had enough guaranteed fans to make money. You can't put on races that require the back gate to pay the purse. This is a uniquely modern and horrible practice. You are supposed to promote the races and make sure that enough fans come to watch. Given the option of watching a $7000 to win mod show or a $15,000 to win Late Model show in St. Louis blows that out of reality though.

"...and make sure that enough fans come to watch."

Please tell us how to do this. We can make sure we have enough water on the track, enough beer in the cooler, and enough toilet paper in the johns, but we are still trying to find a way to guarantee a certain number of fans.
