I know this is not common practice at all tracks, but, it does happen even here. And I know this is not the proper place to air dirt..lol..But, here goes. Plus I am bored tonight and talking doesn't seem to do any good. How would you like to be lied to and told..YOU should have already gotten it, but...Or we had to take out a loan to pay everyone,but...(Wade it DIDN"T seem to hurt your pocket book to race Brownstown or Mt. Vernon after season ended at your track.) Must have found the money for that somewhere, hmmmm. Well it doesn't take a genius to know when your being snowed. If we were they only ones who didn't receive a check I would have chalked it up to an oversight but oviouisly thats not the case, I hear there are others. I talked to Paige on October 21st. I am still waiting for an explanation as to why. What seems to be the problem up there in Brighton Wade? Do you feel some were more deserving than others to receive their payout.? I think an explation should be forthcoming in the mail with our CHECK. Sad way to finish out your first season. I know some of you would just chalk it up to his first year as promoter BUT its not your 150.00 bucks now is it. And with the holidays coming. Well rest my case. I just thought the racing community would like to know.

Whats the story? Do you owe them a check? A public explanation would do well to keep your reputation. It doesnt take long to tarnish that on a public forum. Not paying racers is as good as writing a death warrant to a track. Unless of course you were to make it up to them. We racers look forward to your prompt reply. Or forwarding of a check, whichever comes first.
 
Now why in the world would we owe them a check...If you had to pay to get in the gate. Don't know of any tracks that take IOU's do you?. Be real. Nice try though I have tried to think of all sorts or reasons as to why it happened. Tried to give them the benifit of the doubt It just don't make sense though.

Hope it doesn't have anything with being the only FORD in the class and with the littlest motor. But the BOSS is good. If thats the reason then were doomed...! lol
 
Not to jump on the bandwagon Mrs Drew..but you arent the only one owed money...ive talked to several people..and not just driver's that are owed. This issue is being dealt with at this moment..cant tell you by whom..sorry..but it is. If I were you..id talk to Bill Rexing or Dan Pilkington. They will be more than happy to get the ball rolling faster...let me know if you need their numbers. Mike

Get real Dale. How could it possibly bite in the *** later as you said. It is the truth and he should have taken care of it. We wouldn't have been mad, but when we found out Wade raced later you know as well as I do traveling that far to race takes up a good 100.00 budget if not more, get real. He knows they OWE Scott that money plus whom ever else didn't get paid and he should have just stayed home and payed his debts. And no doubt Wades phone was probably ringing off the wall this morning and thats all we want for it to be TAKEN care of. If Paige hadn't given me the run around this post wouldn't have been nessesary now, would it? They have our numbers and she said they would get back to me. And if it were you you how long would it have taken for you to say something if it was Bob at TCS.. We were giving them the benefit but obviously it fell on deaf ears. Debbie
 
Anybody owed money by Godfrey Speedway can contact the State of Illinois Attorney General, it is free. You can get the form off the internet under Illinois Attorney General. Also you can file a class action law suit, which will cost you a fee, or file in small claims court and let them pay everything. People should not be treated this way by any business and Godfrey is getting a bad name because of this. Just a thought!!!!
 
Dale..i wasnt starting anything..just stating..that..some things did happen..and are being addressed at this time. Cant give anymore info out other than that. I like Wade..was always treated fairly by him..and his crew..track was awesome..but..there are some loose ends being tied up..no big deal. I dont really know everything that did happen..or do i care. Just heard things were overlooked..and will be taken care of. And i look forward to next year..if Wade is there..fine.if not..i am sure somone capable will run it. Thanks..mike

You must be Godfrey Speedways little internet defender, because anytime someone says something negitive you are quick to respond. That track has not been promoted right since Web Spaulding!!
 
Web Spaulding? He was nearly the death of the track! A really nice guy, but one of the worst businessmen of all time. Remember the "super-modifieds"? Remember when Bob Stanton and George Carroll leased the track, got it going good again, only to have Spaulding take it back and screw it up again? The last decent promoters before Wade and Vern / Chad was George and Kim Carroll. They kept pumping money into the track (including advertising), and were it not for personal circumstances, would probably still be running the place today. He may have had good intentions, but never really "got it" when it came to race track promotion.

Nice post..bet if the shoe was on the other foot you would be just as upset at the outcome as us. Here it is almost the second week of November and the race was a month ago. All I am saying is we should have got paid just like the ones who already got their checks in the mail. Also Darrel you don't even race in the same class as Scott who I might add did very well this year with a 4th place finish at Godfrey and a 7th at Highland speaks for itself. Did you do that good? Also the engine is out of the car your more than welcome to take a look for yourself. And by the way would you talk to your MOTHER the way you did to me. This is Scotts Mom and i have no qualms about signing my name....Debbie Drew

your right i wouldnt talk to my mom like that,she would slap me,so when you see me next year you can gie me one,im just tired of all the people dishing godfrey,could be a nice track if things get straight,yeah you guys had a good year,mine wasnt as good,ill have my new sportsman out next year,guess ill hae to find a new number,good winter to ya.darrell

I had to chase Bob Wente down for 8 weeks one time for a check(ok..ok..not chase..i dont think he can run real fast) but i know the feeling. Not like you need the money to feed the family..but..you did put alot of effort into the race. Glad ya got taken care of. And i do remember Bob Stanton and George Carroll running Godfrey..it was awesome! The supermod class was bad..remmeber the rule ..it said..no sprint car frames? Did anyone ever look at John Seets and Ken Edwards cars? Looked like sprint car material too me. Lol. But they were fast but not really inspected by the officials closely. I think Bob and George both would take the track over..given the right conditions. But Wade didnt do too bad either..especially for the first year. Guess we wi9ll have to wait and see what happens at the rule meetings.
