Benton, Mo; Rusty Griffaw of Festus, Missouri drove his UMP Modified to victory lane Saturday night at the Auto Tire and Parts NAPA Racepark. Griffaw drove an impressive race in the Modified main event of the evening holding off the 2002 defending ATPR Modified Champion Chris Hall of Sikeston, Missouri. Griffaw and Hall were followed by Brent Thompson, Steve Gaertner, and Tim Walker rounding out the top five. A good crowd of fans turned out Saturday night at ATPR to witness some outstanding and exciting racing plus a nice fireworks display. A total of 95 cars entered Saturday's program at the Benton facility. "We were very pleased with the number of fans that apparently decided to stay at home this holiday weekend and take in the racing program at our Racepark", Promoter Jerry Wolsey said.

A very familiar face once again returned to the winners circle in the Outlaw Wing Sprint Division 38 year old Robbie Stanridge of Springfield, Illinois done a very impressive "Sling Shot" move coming out of turn four in the late laps of the feature which put him out front of the 17 car field and he never looked back. Stanridge flipped his Sprinter in his heat race between turns one and two earlier in the evening but that didn't stop his crew from working non-stop and getting the 2002 defending champion back on the track and in time for the 25 lap Sprint feature, which their efforts paid off as the Reddick Motorsports Sprinter ended up in victory lane for the fourth time this season with Stanridge at the controls. The Sprint main event was lead for several laps by second year driver Jason Evans of Arnold, Missouri who came so close of winning the finale for the evening but veteran driver Robbie Stanridge did not allow that to happen. "Jason drove a very good race and was in full control of the field but when Stanridge made that move coming out of four late in the feature that basically put the race in the books", Wolsey said.

In the Pure Street Stock Division 16 year old Dietrich Bollinger of Benton, Missouri lead all 15 laps and won the event plus a nice $1,000.00 to go with it compliments of C&H Trailer Sales of Sikeston, Missouri who sponsored the Pure Street Feature for the evening. Bollinger who has now won two Pure Street Main Events for the 2003 season was nothing but excited in victory lane as he thanked his classmates of Kelly High School of Benton and his fans and family who all turned out for the evening in support of him. "I just want to thank all my sponsors, friends, and family for supporting me this year without them this couldn't have happen", Bollinger said. During the interview with Bollinger in victory lane the 2002 Defending Pure Street Champion Jeff Beeson presented Bollinger with the winners trophy. In the Cruiser class the team of Southard/Koenig won the main event followed by the Trankler/Bartels team. This Saturday July 12th An All Outlaw Demolition Derby will be held at the Racepark with a $1,250.00 to win feature, and a $250.00 to win in the four cylinder class. Racing action on the oval will return back on July 19th with the Outlaw Wing Sprints, UMP Modifieds, Pure Street Stock, and Cruisers.
