Mother Nature provided the Quad City Raceway with a beautiful cool summer evening. 75 cars were on hand to do battle on Hall of Fame voting night. Racing action was at its best as 3 and 4 wide racing was the norm for the night. May familiar faces made there way to victory lane.

First off the UMP 4 cylinders had two feature events. The first was a make up from 2 weeks ago. In that race Todd Sibley, the current points leader, was victorious. Todd led all 12 laps to secure the win, with Chad tucker and Amie Woekenner rounding out the top 3. In the 2nd feature event, Polo Illinois driver Scotty Powell picked up another win, getting by early race leader, Pekin Illinois driver Eric Wisher on lap 7. Todd Sibley would finish 2nd and Wisher was 3rd. Heat races were won by Wisher and Powell.

In the Mod-lites, Jason Masengarb and Bobby Toland picked up heat race wins. In the feature event Bobby Toland grabbed the early race lead and never looked back to capture the 15 lap feature. Jason Masengarb and Shon Sanders rounded out the top 3 spots.

In the UMP Street Stocks, the heat race was won by Chris Lawrence. The feature event had lots excitement, as current point leader Matt Werner lead the first 14 and 3/4 laps, but coming out of turns 3 and 4, Werner broke an upper ball joint and came to stop in turn 4. Chris Lawrence took the lead and the victory, moving Lawrence now into the point lead. Jimmy Simpson came home with his best finish of the year 2nd,m and RJ Gonzalez, driving a borrowed race car for the feature was 3rd.

The UMP Modifieds again drew a big field of cars, 24 in all. Heat races were won by Mike Spatolla, Craig Crawford and Jason Pershy. The last chance race was won by Dale Leuth. In the feature, Manhattan Illinois driver Mike Spatolla grabbed the early race lead, but 9 laps in current UMP National point leader Gary Cook Jr. Got by Spatolla on the bottom of turn 2. Cook then moved to the high side of the track where Spatolla was running and Spatolla went to the bottom. Spatolla was right there Coook Jr., getting beside many times but just could not get by. Cook Jr. Went on to capture the feature event with Spatolla 2nd. 15th starting Leland Bushong may of been the fastest car on the track as he charged up to the front on the bottom, catching both leaders, but just ended a bit short. Bushong wound up finishing 3rd. Greg Durbin also had his best run of the year making his way to the front coming home 4th. The consistent Craig Crawford would come home in the 5th spot.

The IMCA Late Models stole show tho. With 1 more week left in the National Points hunt things are really heating up at the top. Heat race action saw Adam Opendike overtake DJ Burke on the final lap in turn 4 to tak the win and Kevin Blum making an unbelievable pass on both Ray Guss Jr and Toland as he split the 2 cars off 4 with 2 laps to go take heat race number 2. In the feature event, your early race leader was Eric Sanders, but by lap 7 rob Toland had worked hi way to the front of the 25 lap main event. Kevin Blum was the next car to challenge Rob as the 2 ran side by side for man laps.

Then on lap 17 or so Ray Guss Jr got to the botttom of both driver and made a 3 wide pass for the lead. Guss Jr would go on to take the win with Blum finishing 2nd and Rob Toland would be 3rd. Rounding out the top 5 were Nate Buesling and Gary Webb. This coming Sunday will be the final night of IMCA National points as Blum has a very slight lead over Guss jr and Terry Neal.

The point battle will be decided this Sunday night at Quad City Raceway.
On August 30th Quad City Raceway will be having Kids box car races. So make sure your kids make there box cars and come show them off Sunday Night. We will also have a bike giveaway for the kids this Sunday night. Gates open at 4 pm and racing action starts at 6pm.
