From Flea on DIRT NATION:
“He qualified bad and he’s like in the back of the F Main. He won the F Main today so he’s in back of the E Main now. He went from critical to serious condition today. It’s a big jump! He’s still in bad shape but he’s coming around the corner. He’s making progress. They are talking about taking the stent out of his head tomorrow and he is breathing somewhat on his own without the respirator. They took the I.V.’s out of his arms. So all of his vital signs have been really good. We are all excited that he has had two days in a row that have been really good.”

“He’s starting to look a lot better. Pretty much all of the swelling has gone down in his face and he’s starting to get back to half-way normal, but he still has along, long ways to go. He’s getting there slowly but surely and I think if we get a couple good days in a row it’ll be better. They are going to try and put a ‘trach’ in his throat tomorrow and that’s a good thing.”

“He’s been eating, they have been feeding him through a tube and he’s keeping that down so that is good. So it’s a big relief tonight. I just left there and we all kind of had sigh of relief because today has gone so well. It’s been looking up for him but he’s still got a long ways to go. I think all of the prayers and everything everybody has been saying for him since Tuesday night has been paying off.”

Flea on the outpouring of support:
“Everyone has their heart on their sleeve right now and I’ll guarantee you 95% of the people have never met him or know what he looks like but that’s kind of how this kid is. Me and Tommy Hicks, his crew chief, have kind of been cussing the kid when we get our own time in the room with him. We keep threatening to turn the bed over on him if he don’t get up and get out of it. But if you ever met this kid and spent only five minutes with him, you’d have the best friend you would ever want o have because he’s one of them people who you cannot help but like. It’s not surprising to me that everybody is going kind of nuts over this deal because he’s such a good kid.”

“I need to tell everybody thanks for everything they have done and sent. I’d like to thank Kenny Schrader, Bill Elliott, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart and those guys who signed the get well banner for him and everybody that has gave money. And all the drivers and everybody that has been behind this deal the whole time. It was a real good deal at Talledega and we[‘re going to do it again this week at Tazewell. We’ve got a bunch of doors and panels and things like that that we’ll be taking up to Tazewell in the souvenir trailer.”
