Any thoughts on the best haunted houses/attractions in IL & MO?
Anyone been to some lesser known, lesser advertised, good ones?

There is a pretty good haunted trail outside of Waterloo at the Sportsmans Club. To get there you go through Waterloo and stay on Route 3 headed south towards Red Bud. You go right on Sportsmans Club Rd. and follow it until you see all the torches, thats it.

I enjoyed Darkness in Soulard and other people have said good things too, I heard that the very graphic "Mall of the Dead" was a bust and silo-x wasn't that good either. Tombstone in imperial isn't supposed to be that bad either.

I would not ever go back to Darkness. It was lame, the Six Flags haunted houses are better than that. It is people dressed up in wal-mart customes that you can see before they jump out at you. It was a waste if you ask me.
Now Silo X(in fenton,mo)....It was worth going to... It has a pitch black maze that you have to find your way out of... (which we got lost in for about 45 min...it does get frustrating)soem of it has the thick fog and strobe lights. Lots of chainsaw guys, and a lot more action. I have a ticket left for Tombstone but have not gone to that one yet.
Anyone of those haunted houses that you go to...if you ask at the window you can get a package for 3 haunted houses for a discount. I got darkness, silo x, and tombstone for 30 bucks.....that saved 12 bucks buying them together then goin to each one and paying seperately.

I won't allow myself to go to haunted houses, with very good reason. I went to silo-x a couple years back, and, it's a very LONG story, but I have this thing with chain saws. I also don't respond to fear the way most people do. Rather than just screaming, running, crying, etc., I become...hmmm...psychotic(?). Anyway, I almost broke some guy's jaw. Don't want to do that again. But it was a lot of fun otherwise.

alton ill a good place to goto the civil war prison is good and some other places in the town __ i saw it on a tv show once

not my work found it on some web-site props to the maker

Green Eyes if you decide to check out Alton, let me know. We can lead our hubbies thru some house of terror(if we choose my house of terror I'll need a couple days notice to clean or else it might be too scary. LOL. I guess since you are ready to be scared you are feeling better? We do have the McPike mansion which is reportedly haunted and they use to let people stay on Halloween night. Seriosly if ya find something good let us know.

We make a trip to Waterloo each year to the sportsmans club to their Haunted Trail. We just went there last weekend. It's always nice!

I worked for a few years at one of the big commercial houses driving the hayride wagon and as a "disembodied voice". A lot of fun, but I got tired of being hit in the face by scared drunks.

If you go, go early in the night. After 10pm or so the actors get burnt out (in more ways than one) and they just dont have the same energy level. The Holloween Production houses (Darkness, Silo-X and Tombstone) are always great for design and 'ambiance' and if the actors are on their game, you cant beat them.

Waterloo

I work at the Waterloo Sportsmans club and yes it is always nice every year. I'm goin after our Homecoming football game tonight to see how they did it this year. Evansville was pretty cool last year too with the psycho's getting loose in the woods...oooo scary! :D Make the trip over here and hit them both while you're at it.

Venus-yes I do think we'll check out Alton although I don't know exactly where the places are yet. I think we should take the old men through some fright to get their blood pumping. LOL And yes thank you I am finally on the uphill swing to health-We can be available pretty much any evening in Oct- PM your phone # & I'll give you a ring.

Thanks guys for the input.
Gotta love Halloween think of the "treats" ;)

Well now where do I begin. I took my little brother to his first haunted attraction this weekend and i wish i hadn't. This is a shout out to everybody. Do not go to the haunted trail in Evansville. I took a youngster through this weekend and well to be quite honest it ****ed. Nobody was even trying to scare people and when they did they reaked of beer and weed. yeah the damn workers are sitting around in the woods, in plain view of the people, drinking beer and smoking weed. We actually walked up on 2 people that were smoking weed right on the trail ( which they quickly disposed of the **** as soon as we walked up on them). Parents, do not take your kids to this place. it's ran by a bunch of highschoolers (from what i hear Sparta) so there you go. If anybody that works there see's this...i need to know who is in charge of the woods cuz after seeing that...alot of people aren't too happy and neither am I. I had to explain to my brother taht they usually arent as bad as Evansville was. Way downhill from last year So im takin him to waterloo this weekend. Waterloo keeps getting better and better every year and i know he will be scared:D So if anyone knows the name and # of the person who runs Evansville please get back to me. Thanks alot and GO RED BUD this Friday!

Has Anyone Been To Tombstone In Kimmswick? What's The Hours? A Bunch Of Us Are Planning On Going This Week.
Hope It's Good.

There are always some good ones in Evansville, IN for anyone that doesn't care to make that drive. I have been for about two years, but did go to the ones in St. Louis last year. The were horrible compared to Evansville, IN. There's one there that is at the old nut house, another downtown in an old 8 story hotel and another at the old jailhouse downtown. 96WSTO (radio station) usually has one as well.

There is also one this coming weekend and the next in Orchardville, IL, which isn't too far from Flora (actually SW of Flora). It's out in a woods. I think this is their 3rd or 4th year of doing it and it's always awesome!
