Inside Line Promotions - SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (Aug. 19, 2019) - Alex Hill had a rare idle weekend from racing after rain forced the cancellation of Friday night's program at her home track of Ohsweken Speedway.
"It was disappointing," she said. "I always look forward to racing at home. It was also probably our last chance to get laps in there before our biggest race of the year - the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals."
This week marks the resumption of long commutes to races for Hill after her asummer vacation from school has concluded. She flew to Los Angeles on Monday to begin her junior year at California State University, Los Angeles, where she majors in criminal justice.
"I'm looking forward to going back to L.A.," she said. "This is my third year traveling to the races from California so I've gotten a bit used to it. I have a better class schedule for racing this year than I've had in the past, too. I just have classes on Monday through Wednesday so I can fly out on Thursday if I need to."
Hill won't have to wait long for her first flight to a race. She plans to compete at the next Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. It will be another new track for Hill.
"I don't know much about Riverside, other than it's a smaller track," she said. "Those tracks are a little more difficult for me so I'm hoping to run a lot of laps there to learn and gain some experience. We've shown improvement lately and we'll be looking to continue that."
