Hornet cars at Godfrey

I think and hope they will continue. Last week, 11 cars, and I know of 3 more that are being built right now to race there. A little patience and the car count should be closer to the 15 or 16 they are looking for.

I just did mapquest Pevely to Godfrey. It says its 65 miles. oh sorry, brain fart, yes they run fridays, and if you cant get there on time (which I never can, cause I work til 6 fridays) then you can call the track in the afternoon and they will do the pill draw for you. Check the rules on the godfrey site before you go though, the car has to have some stuff like red or yellow paint on it and a radio, stuff they dont require at I55.

the racers famous gang up

about the swarm at Godfrey...............
me and my buddy went up there to race b'cuz it was his like 2nd week to race and when we pulled in they was all like parkin in a line and makin fun of us. we didnt think anything of it but when he went out there and raced i noticed they were tryin to take him out. they would all suround him and then comin outa 3 and 4 on the frontstretch one of them took him out and he hit the tired in the middle that are filled wit concrete! he totaled his car and the guy got black flagged.it was a bunch of ****. and then they was makin fun of us when we left and said that he didnt know how to drive and all this ****. it needs to be stopped!

hey , get ya a wannabee and come to i55 ! we dont play like that! we race pretty fair every now and then you get some rough play . but thats it :D

Um, not to argue this but if your new to racing how can you tell your being ganged up on, surrounded even, by the locals? All it sounds to me like is that the green flag dropped and since your friend is new to this he didnt get on the gas as fast as he will when he has taken a few starts, the pack came storming past him, cause they all know how to pick up speed real quick on the start, and then somebody got a little over aggresive trying to get past him, lost it, hit him, and then the officials did the right thing and tossed them out for rough driving. Now, doesnt that sound pretty fair?

You need to understand something, this isnt school, where the teachers keep all the kids in line and make them play nicely, this is racing, and you dont have to pass a Mr. Congeniality exam to buy a pit pass to race. You did the right thing ignoring the ribbing, cause thats just how them guys are, they try and pull your chain as often as they can, but dont necessarily assume that what happened on the track was a deliberate attempt to take your friend out. It could be that the guy who hit him just lost control of his car, you know, it happens. Godfrey racers are tough, but they arent dirty. I know, because I race there too. And those guys will definitely loan you a tool or help you out, even if they dont appear entirely friendly when you pull in.

Or, you could go to I55......:D :D ;) ;)

ok t.nite the guy that we are friends with said that they are always like that. it wasnt accidental either. it was purposely done it was obvious. he was up in front not even close to the other guyz and one of them came up and hit him in the back. its not his first time driving either so dont say its his fault cuz he dont know how to drive. see thats the point racing shouldn't be like this a group of guyz that all run together and if u dont like it then you are almost forced to go to another track. thats not right it should all be fair and no partners well none like them anyways. you may not agree but thats what i think!

No, it wasnt his first, I believe according to your previous post
b'cuz it was his like 2nd week to race
.
I just dont believe it was a deliberate hit, for many reasons, the main one being that if you hit somebody, you get thrown out and risk trashing your car and creating more work for yourself. And you need to understand that I know these guys far better than you do and have raced them many times now, and not had any of the problems you speak of, nor witnessed any of these things you claim they do. Apart from the verbal stuff, which I have already told you is just crank yanking. And thats just what I think based on a much longer period around them than you.

Turbo_8 I believe I was there the night your talking about. I don't believe anyone just purposely took out your friend. Godfrey has several Hornet drivers thats maybe just a little too serious about that class. Some were from upper classes and for what ever reason came down here to race the Hornets. To some this may just very well be the only chance that they will ever get to race too a feature win and maybe a championship. Yes, even a Hornet champion is still a champion. Godfrey has seem to blossom some very intense rivalries between several drivers, to the point that they began to fight amoung themselves, and now there" NO MORE", because of it! Its really a shame because relationships and friendships have been shoved a side because of it. They believe that this racing is as importantant as the Late Models or Modifieds, which are real race cars. When that green flag drops the TAZ DEVIL just seemed to jump from there beings. Your friend just got caught up between this rivalry and some up and close racing, unaware of those rivalries. When this type of rivalry starts all common sense flushes out the tail pipe.
