Farmington, MO (June 20) -- Jimmy Hurley, Springfield, IL, picked up his second win in a row Saturday evening at St Francois County Raceway. Hurley pushed his mount to the front and was never headed in the event. Several challenges were made by second place finisher Jerrod Hull, Sikeston, MO and Joey Boyd of Farmington, MO. The race was run under cloud of concern. Earlier in the evening, during the dash for the Sprint Division, two cars made contact. Tommy Worley, Jr and Joey Boyd were racing for position in the six lap event. Worley made contact with Boyd and did the end over end type of roll and went out of the track airborne. Catching the top of the fence, his car came to rest in the pit area. Emergency crews rushed to the scene. At the time of this writing three people were transported from the scene. No further details are available.

The drivers held a special drivers meeting to determine if they wished to continue the show. All drivers voted to continue racing. In the true spirit of racing they gave the fans a great show. Hurley was followed by Hull, Boyd, Joey Montgomery, and Kent Buckley.

The Modified Division chased a top prize on this evening of $1000 to win. In true “outlaw” fashion the winner came in from the outside to win. The “Festus Flyer”, Rusty Griffaw came to town and stole the show. Griffaw has raced at the facility before, but not in recent history. Griffaw also took honors in his heat and the dash for the “hat trick”. When the green flag waved at the start Griffaw led Smith, Jeremy Greenwalt, Kasey Nation, Eaton, and John Leahy, Jr. The first three put a small amount of distance between themselves and the field. One caution would slow the field. Brent Thompson spun his car, but was able to continue. Griffaw was chased to the stripe by Smith, Eaton, Mike Francis and Greenwalt.

Pure Street Division found a familiar face in the circle. Brian Blair picked up his fourth feature win of the season by besting Shane Blair, Dom Wadlow, Eddie Gross and Mike Savage.

A new, but old face takes the honors in the 600 Multi Division. Ryan Kempin, Catawissa, MO brought out the Multi and dispensed with the field in short order. Kempin might be making a tune-up run for next weeks POWRi National 600 Multi show. Late arrival JoeB Miller started on the tail of the event and finished in second place. Point Leader and Rookie of the Year candidate, Kyle Amerson finished third followed by Dave Chilton and Jeff Wurst.

Next Saturday night the POWRi National Multi Show will be in for their annual event. Defending Champion Derek King, Vienna, IL will lead the star studded field. In addition all of our other classes, Winged Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, and Pure Streets will be competing for double points toward the championship. Fireworks will also be provided at intermission. Gates open at 4:00pm with racing at 7:00. Grandstand admission for adults is $10. Children under 12 are FREE with a paid adult. Pit passes for the event are $25.
