Lebanon,Mo.-IMCA Late Model Hotshoe Chris"The Hurrying Missourian" Smyser took control from 1988 I-44 Kingpin Darrell Mooneyham and survived a last lap surge from Brandon McCormick to become the third different Late Model feature winner Sat.Night at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway in collecting the $1000 to win feature before a large crowd.

Smyser aboard the Mike Crump 00 started the feature by rolling off 11th on the grid and slowly moved his way to the front. The ealy parts of the feature saw Jimmy Greenway take the lead from his front row starting spot and hold on for the first 3 laps until Darrell Mooneyham took charge on lap 4 moving to the high side of the track coming out of turn 4.Meanwhile Chris had charged up to the 3rd spot taking the positions a couple at a time.Smyser then set Mooneyham up with a bold move faking down low then going upstairs to take over on lap 7.The 1st and only yellow flew as 1 time winner Melvin Smith and Reid Millard experienced problems in turn 3 putting both of them on the hook for the night. On the restart Lebanon's Brandon McCormick started to get in his groove and he began to close the gap on Smyser as Dustin Mooneyham began his assult to the front. With the battles going on behind the leaders,McCormick had caught Chris and applied pressure on lap 20 only to see Chris pull away again. As the white flag was displayed,Smysers machine looked to slow as McCormick began the late charge, and pulled along side the leader in turn 2.Smyser used a lap car to his advantage and pulled away again to recors a 3 car length victory as a broken hub on the left front wheel showed to hamper the winner.Floowing the duo to the line were Dustin Mooneyham,Lebanon's Ken Dickinson, and Bolivar Speedway point leader Chad Clark at the strip."We are looking very strong at running the MARS Shows coming up at Lebanon next week, and with the rainout at a local tracl closer to home,we decided to try to get a handle on this place. The facility is wonderful and the show was very well run with this many cars in the pits(130).The fans really came down after the races and that Tier parking sence is pretty cool."

In other action,Modified Point leader Erik Maggard took advantage of a lap 4 caution and then had to hold off a late race surge from Terry Kirk to record his 2nd win of the young season at I-44.Ragland of Lebanon jumped out to the ealry lead from his outside front row starting spot with Eric Hudson in tow as Maggard who started 10th on the grid wasted no time in applying pressure to the front runners in the 21 car starting grid.Maggard, the second generation driver used his savy to get the run on the restart of a Tim Bostwick,John Rathgerber get together.Ragland who had a top 3 run going fell victim to a flat tire in the final 3 laps.Following the leaders to the strip were a hard charging Jason hughes,Hudson, and veteran Bill Gilliam.
Point Leader Mike Joplin saw his Superstock winning way come to and end as Stoutland's Rick Brown overtook Reggie Jackson on lap 7 after Jackson jumped from his front row starting spot to take the early command. The feature which went green, white, checkered for the entire 15 laps, saw several spots and positions swapping behind the leaders as Brown the 1988 point champ put it on cruise control for his first of the season followed by Joplin, early leader Jackson,Larry Prewitt, and a hard charging Ed Wilson.
The Factorystock feature had Sean Williams jump from his second row starting spot and set sail to record his second win of the season followed by point leader Quintin Day,Darrin Crisler,Steve Melton, and Cookie Blevins.
The bomber feature was a wild affair as first Brandon Knotsman took control for the first 3 laps, then Rolla's Craig Lonning took over as leader Knotsman had problems going to the infield.Lonning then gave way in lap traffic to hard charging Trent Harrison on lap 7 and Harrison became the third different feature winner this season as he held off a late race charge from Jeff durr in recording the win.Following the duo wereLonning,Tim Riffle, and Jeff Davenport.

The Midwest Limited Sprint feature saw Joe Todd jump out from his front row starting spot and never looked back in gathering the victory.Following Todd across the stripe was his son Eric, Chuck Fortune who started deep in the pack,Scott Wedelstadt, and John Rowland.

Over 130 cars signed in the pits for racing action Sat.Night.Next Weekend will feature the O'ReillyAutoParts MARS Series with defending champion Bill Frye,Terry Phillips,Jeff Taylor, and the midwest top dirttrack Late Model Drivers along with action in the Modifieds,Superstocks, and Bombers While Bolivar host the MARS Series Friday Night with Modifieds,Factorystock, and Bombers.
