VERNAL, Utah (March 9) – Three more IMCA sanctioned divisions will join regular race programs at Diamond Mountain Speedway this season.
IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are new to the ¼-mile dirt oval at Vernal. They’ll join IMCA Modifieds and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMods on nine Saturday and two Friday shows.
“We wanted to get these divisions onto a national set of rules,” said promoter Allen Hacking. “We want to make sure anyone can come with an IMCA legal car and race here.”
First night for points is April 30. The season continues through Sept. 17.
“We like the whole IMCA package,” Hacking said. “My pitch to the drivers has been that IMCA has the rules, the insurance and the point funds.”
Stock Car and Hobby Stock points earned at Diamond Mountain figure in Stephenville Starter Southern Region standings for the respective divisions.
Diamond Mountain has run IMCA Modifieds since 2007 and the Southern SportMods since 2009.
