Officials with the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance have made the decision to postpone their event scheduled Saturday, May 4 at Volunteer Speedway due to inclement weather. Besides the FASTRAK Racing Series $3,000-to-win featured main event, the FASTRAK Future Stars Tour was set for their inaugural race. Track and series officials are working on a rescheduled date.
The National Weather Service forecast shows a rainy weekend in East Tennessee. With race teams expected to travel from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, FASTRAK Vice President DJ Irvine says it's just the right thing to do for competitors not forcing them to tow long distances with the high percentage of rain being forecast by the NWS.
"It's a tough decision anytime you have to pull the plug on a scheduled event," said FASTRAK Vice President DJ Irvine. "But there's been rain in East Tennessee Thursday evening and night carrying over into Friday, and the National Weather Service forecast for Saturday doesn't look favorable. We've got race teams that are looking at traveling hundreds of miles and you've got to consider the money they'll spend for fuel costs.”
Also postponed is the scheduled insurance test for drivers of the FASTRAK Future Stars Tour. FASTRAK will be working will tracks near the corporate office to reschedule the insurance test and will make an announcement once a suitable date is found.
“We are looking forward to getting the FASTRAK Future Stars Tour up and running,” continued Irvine, “These drivers are the future of our sport and we can’t wait for them to hit the track and showcase their talents.”
