LaSalle, IL- Tony Izzo Jr. became an unstoppable force on Saturday night at
his home track of the LaSalle Speedway. The young Utica driver has held the
championship title at the Speedway on numerous occasion?s but after taking
time away and just racing when he ?feels like it? he has proven he still
knows his way around the highbanked clay oval.

When the UMP Late Model main event was ready to go green there was Tonica?s
Ryan Dauber, the current points champion, sitting next to former champ Frank
Reaber of Bensenville while Dixon?s Tim Hamburg and Izzo sat side by side in
the second row. Once under green Hamburg moved up and to the inside of
Dauber.

By the end of Lap 2, Dauber was setting the pace as Hamburg tried a lower
groove with Reaber and Jason Feger on his tail. Four laps later, Dauber went
high and hit what appeared to be rough ground giving Hamburg just the
opening he was looking for as the next lap Hamburg took over the point with
Reaber now in second.

During Lap 9, Reaber made his move and grabbed the lead from under Hamburg
but not without door to door racing. For the next few laps, Reaber used the
high terrain as Izzo worked his line on the bottom in the corners. By Lap
16, Izzo had positioned himself directly behind Reaber and pulled into the
lead. A caution during the lap slowed their stride. The single file restart
had Izzo as the leader with Reaber, Hamburg, West Chicago?s Jay Fiene,
Feger, Dauber, Elmhurst?s Jim Partipilo and Streator?s Steve Tyne in line
behind him.

When the green dropped again, the leaders slowly started the field as the
back of the pack checked up causing a multi-car pile up. Tom Markham, Skip
Martin, and Billy Weistart Jr. weren?t so lucky as they all received
extensive damage from the domino effect in field. Only twelve cars remained
for the next green signal.

Once the field was back to speed, Izzo managed to pull away from the pack
leaving Reaber to fend off Hamburg who was using the high side in his quest
for second.

Izzo collected the win with Hamburg in the runner-up position over Reaber.
Seventh place starter Fiene was coming on strong and finished an impressive
fourth as Feger, Partipilo, Dauber, Martin, Weistart, Mick Miller, Ryan
McQueary, Tyne, Markham, Garrett Slager, Jason Bogle, Bart Schwartz, Jason
Jaggers and Dave Lilja all crossed the line after him.

Dauber outpowered the fastest six qualifiers for the Dash win. Reaber
finished second over Hamburg and Izzo. Scott Johnson won the first Heat as
Jan Tiberi, Lilja and Schwartz completed the top four finishers. Hamburg
captured the second Heat win during the final laps leaving Slager in second
over Fiene and Markham. Partipilo posted the fastest qualifying lap with a
time of 12.806.

Tonica?s Eric Dauber started eighth on the grid and finished an impressive
twenty-five laps as the winner of the Midwestern Late Model feature race.
>From start to finish too many yellows slowed the pace set by the twenty-one
car field but when the green flag was flying the competition was stiff.

This division was in a tight point?s race with Saturday night being the last
evening of races to collect towards the season points competition. Third
place was the battle as Granville?s Darin Furar was two points over Ralph
Markham but as fate would have it anything can change even during the final
laps of the last points night.

For the first twenty-one laps, Dan Thryselius led the event. For much of the
race Furar tailed him closely with Ralph in third, TJ Markham fourth Dauber
in fifth, Ottawa?s Butch Hampson and Mike Glynn following.

On Lap 16, Furar made an inside move on Thryselius and the two made contact
but everyone kept their speed. Five laps later the two were not so lucky as
contact was made again sending the two head first into the wall of turn
three ending both Thryselius? impressive run and Furar?s quest for the win
and third in points.

When the race was in the final laps the battle was up front as Ralph was now
piloting the restart with TJ, Dauber, Glynn, Hampson and Joe Burba filed in
behind him. Dauber wasted no time moving into the captain?s chair, leading
for the final two laps with cousins Ralph and TJ duking it out for second.

At the finish Dauber pulled off the win with TJ taking Ralph. Glynn finished
fourth over Hampson, Burba, Mike Lock, Reno Markham, Charlie Olson, Tony
Coglianese, Mike Migliorini, Joe Adams, Doug Newlin, Larry Yardley, Wally
Forsythe, Furar, Thryselius, John Picatto, Jim Westaway, Al Christy and Rich
Leach.

Earlier, Picatto held fast time as Mike Cardine won the first Heat over
Reno, Christy and Yardley. Glynn won the fast qualifiers Heat over TJ,
Hampson and Burba.

All season long it has been a close battle both for racing and the points in
the Midwestern Sportsman class so of course Saturday?s racing was no
different as Jeff Hartzell, Shane Hill and Scott Hatzer continued their
competitive ways. When the night started the points were close and at the
close of the event points were not yet available but everyone knew they were
within only a point or two.

Hartzell won the Feature race over Hill, Hatzer, Eric Rebholz, Duane
McCarville, Brian Claudnic, Aaron Schmidt, Duane Peterson, Tim Fitzpatrick,
Sharon Schlappi, BJ Mires, BJ Grabow, Ed Scapardine, Tina Soberi, Scott
Hoage, Daryl Grandys, Keith Piano and Scott Cimei.

Hatzer and Hartzell each won the division Heat races.

Daniel Bark outlasted the competition in the Street Stock action as Justin
Rutledge finished second in front of Travis Rokey, Chuck Leason, Chuck
Provenzano, Tom Legner, Jay Hamilton, Eric Whittington, John Peterson, Nick
Sell, Gary Schmitt, Kevin Hoffman, Al Gray, Charles Herhold, Sean Romines,
Steve Lewis and Scott Schmitt.

Next Saturday night the points champions will be crowned at ?Back To School?
night with admission prices discounted to only $5.00 for adults with
children free.
