Isom, KY- August 29, 2008- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Graphic Impressions made its only visit of the season to Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY on Friday evening and Jackie Boggs of Grayson, KY would see the checkered flag first and pick up $3,000 for the win, his first with the series since a 2003 victory at the Thunder Ridge Entertainment Complex in Prestonsburg, KY. The win by Boggs was his fourth career series win with the tour and made him the eighth different winner on the tour for 2008.

Boggs’ winning machine is a Swartz Race Car, receiving sponsorship from Miller Brothers Coal, Hawkeye Trucking, Appalachian Flooring, Graphic Impressions, McDonald’s, MAC Metal Sales, Richard A. Mitchell Inc., Hall Brothers Truck Repair, Tri-State Oxygen, Clay Tire Sales, Perry County Tire, and Hoosier Race Tires.

Eastern Kentucky veteran Raymond Nichols would the local fans proud with a runner-up effort to Boggs, while Larry Gray would turn in his best series finish of the season with a third place performance. Tennessee native Shon Flanery would pick up his first top five series finish since the June 201 event, while Ohio invader Rick Aukland would complete the top five finishers.

The remainder of the top ten at the finish would be Eric Wells, D.J. Wells, Chris Combs, Victor Lee, and Tim Tungate. The event would be 30 laps in distance and be slowed by three caution periods.

The attempted start of the race would be called back after a multi-car spin in turn two halted the action, with all competitors able to continue. With the event underway, Jackie Boggs would launch himself to the top spot, with Shon Flanery, Raymond Nichols, Larry Gray, and Eric Wells in tow. Rick Aukland would take fifth on lap 2, with Wells retaking the fifth slot one lap later. The top five would remain the same as the second caution of the event flew on lap 8 for a spin by Royce McGowan.

The restart would continue to have Boggs at the point, while Flanery and Nichols would battle for second, with Gray fourth, and Wells getting heat from Aukland for the fifth spot. Lap 11 would be the circuit in which Aukland would make his way back into the top five past Wells, while Boggs continued to hold the top spot, with Flanery and Nichols still battling for second. The second and final caution of the race would wave with 20 laps completed when McGowan would spin for the second time in the event, ending his evening.

This restart would again see Boggs pull away from the pack a bit, while Nichols continued his assault on Flanery for the second slot. Lap 24 would see Nichols hit paydirt and slide by Flanery for the runner-up position, with Gray now pressuring Flanery for third. Gray would take third from Flanery on lap 27, but the final three laps would not see Boggs challenged for the top spot, with Boggs taking the win, followed by Nichols, Gray, Flanery, and Aukland.

In preliminary action, Shon Flanery was the Racing Optics Top Qualifier among 31 entries with a lap of 14.503 seconds. Heat race checkered flags went to Flanery in Wayne Bowen Racing Supply heat one, Jackie Boggs in K&N Performance Engineering heat two, Raymond Nichols in Graphic Impressions heat three, and Larry Gray in Real Racing Wheels heat four. Shannon Thornsberry would win the B-Main event, while Zach Carney and Arnie Fields earned series provisional starts.
