Lebanon, MO; Great racing and fireworks returned as the Lebanon I-44 Speedway celebrated America’s birthday with a bang with Light the Night 2010.

Tony Jackson, Jr. returned to the Lebanon I-44 Speedway with a bang on 4th of July weekend, dominating in his return trip to his home track. Mike Slone, looking for his third win in a row, grabbed the early lead of the Late Model feature, taking the lead on lap one. Jackson, Jr. quickly made his way up to the front, going from his sixth starting spot to second on the first lap. Jackson and Slone stayed bumper to bumper until lap five, when Jackson started pulling on the inside of Slone. Slone held Jackson off until lap seven; Slone slipped up just a little bit in turn two and that was all Jackson needed as he shot to the inside and took the lead out of turn two. Once in the lead Jackson would never look back and pulled away for his second victory of the season. Slone came home second, Ken Dickinson third, Kyle Steffens fourth and Jim Vanzandt rounded out the top five.

Ken Dickinson grabbed the early lead in the Modified Carget Motors Dash for Cash and held off a frantic last lap charge from Robert Baltzell to capture the cash before the Modified feature. Jason Otto grabbed the early lead in the Modified feature, looking for his second victory of the season, and to cut in to point leader Brian Brown’s 28 point advantage. Dickinson, Shane Roach and Michael Stake all battled for the second position. Stake’s night would come to an early end, when his car spun coming off of turn four, ending his night with five to go with overheating problems. Otto held off the field over the last five laps, holding off Dickinson and Roach to take his second victory of the season. Brown’s bid for back to back wins fell short as he came home fourth with Phil Harris rounding out the top five.

Mike Coryell held off Dale Roper, Jr. to win his second Coca Cola Street Stock feature win in a row after grabbing the early lead and holding off Roper and Devin Archer. Payton Lucas stayed red hot in the Pure Street Division, taking home the victory over Stephen Counterman and put himself in championship contention. Caston Jones grabbed the early lead in the Charger feature and held off several attempts from last week’s winner Shawn Jones to take home the feature win. Longtime high school coach Rex Sawyer held off Joe Francis to take home the win in the “Dirt Bomber on Asphalt” feature.

Racing will resume next Saturday night as the Pure Streets will once again go for the added money in the Carget Motors Dash for Cash. The Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Streets and Chargers will also be on hand for week eight of the Monster Energy Chase for the Cup. Gates will open at 5:00 P.M., with hot laps at 6 and racing at 7:30. For more information please visit the tracks website at www.i44speedway.net or call 417-532-2060.
