Jason was last in action two weeks ago as he took part in the opener for the $20,000-to-win, World Modified Dirt Track Championship on Wednesday night, July 27th at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota). In time trials, he was 13th fastest in the 53 car field to earn the fourth starting spot for his heat race. He would go on to pass one car on his way to a third place finish, which earned him the 14th starting spot for the main event. During the course of the feature he passed seven cars to finish in the seventh position. Hughes will next be in action on Saturday night in the final leg of the event.
The team entered the final night of the inaugural World Modified Dirt Track Championship on Saturday night, July 30th at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota). Via Wednesday night's performance, Jason started 8th in the b-main. However, a flat tire on the first lap of the 25 lap event would force him pitside for fresh rubber. He would be able to rejoin the tail of the field, and went on to recover to a 12th place finish to earn the final transfer spot to the feature.
After starting 30th on the grid for the 50 lap feature, Hughes would pass 22 cars in the first 39 laps of the event to work his way up to the eighth spot. However, lap 40 would see a flat tire plague Hughes once again as he would be relegated pitside to a 20th place finish. Full results are available at www.USMTS.com.
