(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Mars Racing made the short drive to Cedar Lake Speedway from July 2-4 for a special Independence Day weekend extravaganza at the New Richmond, Wisconsin facility, which featured both the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars. The three-day spectacular in their home state started on Thursday evening with two separate rounds of qualifying and a $3,000 to win elimination showdown. Jimmy Mars earned Fast Time honors in qualifying for Friday and knocked down the sixth quickest lap for Saturday prior to winding up fifteenth in the final rundown of the night's preliminary feature.
A pair of $20,000 winner's checks were then up for grabs over the weekend at Cedar Lake. Jimmy placed third in his loaded heat race on Friday night and later advanced up to sixth in the 40-lap main event to trail only victor Ashton Winger, Brandon Sheppard, Ricky Weiss, Dennis Erb, Jr., and Darrell Lanigan.
