JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour makes first Algona visit on the Fourth

ALGONA, Iowa (July 1) – The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour ventures to a new locale, when touring IMCA Modifieds travel to Algona Raceway for the big Fourth of July holiday special.
Monday’s main event winner earns $1,000 and qualifies for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods complete the program.
Pit gates at the Kossuth County Fairgrounds open at 4:30 p.m. The grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12, with youngsters five and under free. Pit passes are $25.

Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks all race for IMCA national, regional and Allstar Performance state points. Northern SportMods earn national and state points.
Algona becomes the 11th different track to host a series event in the one season-plus history of the HDT.
The first five features of 2011 have produced as many different winners: Vern Jackson, Josh Ruby, Ron Barker, Mark Elliott and, on Thursday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Michael Long.
Hancock County Speedway at Britt hosts the Thursday, July 21 Hawkeye Dirt Tour show.
