by Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO: This week will be the last race for points towards the 2010 Championships in the five classes of A & B-Modifieds, Sportsman, Hobby Stock and 4 cylinder Hornets. Most of the classes are yet to be decided for the champ, with separation by only 2 points in two. Standings can be viewed and compared at the website www.speednetdirect.com under 24 Raceway.

The annual All-Star races follow this weekend's features with the 5 winners of the 8-lap races for the All-Star race getting their car's picture posted for the 2011 season's website banner for www.24racewayinmoberly.com . And following those races, will be the Hornet mechanic's race to round out the night. There's been a lot of talk about this mechanic's race, with challenges being laid down.

The following weeks will see the return of the big boys with their A-Modified toys competing in the "Hunt for the Championship" in the United States Modified Touring Series coming in just two short weeks. Joining them will be the Sportsman class, including the USRA Stockcars that usually come along with these mods in a special race that same night. The rained out Hornet Special from two weeks earlier with their 20-lap race, will also be rescheduled to this night of August 28. Note that due to the size of the fields for these classes and the lengths of the features, only these three classes will be scheduled.

September 11 will be the annual B-Modified Championship Shootout, dedicated to Bob Hubert and run in its custom format of 20 laps, then a ten minute break, and the top ten get to go forward in a 10-lap shoot-out. Commerce Bank will be the sponsor for that event this year. All of the other four classes will also be racing.

And the trophies for the 2010 point champions will be given out on the final night of racing scheduled for this 2010 season, all being awarded on the track front stretch. All five classes are set to compete that night.

"Dirt Track Racing at its Best" will begin this Saturday night at 7pm, with a short driver's meeting at 6pm, followed by hot laps, starting at 6:15. See any of the websites posting 24 Raceway releases, mainly www.24racewayinmoberly.com for this and other notices. A revised schedule dated 8/13/10, should be posted on that site and on www.heartlandmotorsports.com .
