ANKENY, Iowa (April 19) – Karl Chevrolet marks a partnership milestone with IMCA in 2010, as title sponsor of the Northern SportMod division for the fifth consecutive season.
The Ankeny, Iowa, auto dealership will again provide a portion of the $3,000 point fund to be paid to top 10 drivers in fi¬nal national point standings for the class.
Karl Chevrolet will also give a crate motor to a Northern SportMod driver competing at the 2010 IMCA Speed¬way Motors Super Nationals.
Drivers are required to display two Karl Chev¬rolet decals on their race cars during the regular point season and at Su¬per Nationals; they must compete in at least half the weekly races at an IMCA sanctioned track to be eligi¬ble for the crate motor drawing at Boone.
More than 30 tracks will feature Northern SportMods as part of their regular weekly programs this season. The divi¬sion is already newly sanctioned at 10 of those facilities.
Karl Chevrolet has announced a crate engine exchange program for Northern SportMods that goes into effect in 2010. After all exchange terms are met, a new motor will be provided for $2,200 or a refreshed 602 motor will be provided for $1,700.
The refreshed motor will be race ready, having been completely overhauled and IMCA sealed. JR Motor¬sports, the official repair facility for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, will do the rebuilding or refreshening to GM and IMCA specifications.
"The growth of this division has been remarkable this season and Karl Chevrolet has been there since the second year of its existence,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “Their racer support program is out¬standing and with the new trade-in incentive program in place, all Northern SportMod drivers should give Karl Chevrolet a call if they're choosing to run a GM crate engine."
